The Checkout Experience team's mission is to craft the most intuitive checkout & payment for users in the stage of making a purchase on our Tiki app and website. Our challenges span across multiple spaces:

Checkout Success: providing the most user-friendly and effective Checkout experience for our customers. We work to solve this question on our daily basis: what can we do to make customers purchase easier?
Payment Success: providing a seamless payment experience for customers - increasing the ease of purchasing products at Tiki. We are working deliberately and resiliently to increase the success rate of payment transactions on all platforms.
Checkout Architecture/Performance: lightning-fast, and reliability - that's how we're building our systems with hundreds of upstream and downstream services. SLA 99.999% is a rookie number to us.

We are looking for talents with a keen eye for design for the position of Android Engineer. The Android Engineer position is responsible for creating and architecting our Android applications, maintaining and improving existing features on existing applications, and working with the whole Checkout & Payment team to develop innovative solutions that meet our customer's increasing needs.

In more details, you will:

Work with your colleagues (and technical leads) to understand the architecture, specifications, and features that we are building.
Be expected to provide sound solutions to the feature requirements.
Be expected to maintain our code quality standards.
Be expected to take ownership of your work and be the main person in charge in developing and maintaining your work. Of course, you will always have the whole team's support as we are working as a team, but we are specifically looking for someone who has high ownership and takes pride in what they do.
Be expected to be a team player. Our team is composed of individuals of the same blood, if you are hard core and open-minded, you will find yourself home with us.

What will you do?

Maintain and add more user-facing features to our Checkout & Payment platform. You will also need to optimize your codes and applications for maximum speed and scalability.
Working closely with backend developers to understand data flow and logic, then uses that understanding to come up with your frontend solution. We are exclusively using Restful API across all of our services. Knowledge on Restful API is NOT a requirement but it is preferred.
Follow Agile and DevOps practices like CI/CD to deliver quality code at speed to market
Use experimentation and data analysis to tune your applications to be high-performing, intuitive and functional.
Research new technologies and best practices, apply and train other team members
Innovate, experiment, continuously improve, and learn as you go in an effort to provide simple yet effective solutions to complex problems

REQUIREMENT

3+ years of full-time engineering experience and working with Android development.
Proficiency in Java, Kotlin and has strong knowledge of Android SDK. Ready to learn new technology (e.g. rxjava, epoxy, tracking framework...)
Strong knowledge of Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices
Strong base in OOP, Functional Programming, Design Patterns.
Has solid understanding of the full mobile development life cycle.
Experience and passion for building complex, performance, responsive, accessible and beautiful mobile-native experiences that are well-tested, documented and monitored.
Experience in app performance optimization is a plus.
Great interpersonal and communication skills. Experience in working with Agile methodology. (Scrum or Kanban)
Proactive in solving issues & Performs effectively & independently in software implementation activities (designing, coding, verification, unit testing, and debugging...)
Be able to read and write technical documents in English. Can communicate verbally in English is a plus.
