Senior Strategic Planner
Department: Planning/ Creative Strategy
Reports to: ECD/ Director of Strategy
Objective
Lead the strategic thinking behind brand and communication initiatives. The Senior Planner integrates market context, consumer behavior, and competitive intelligence into sharp, evidence-based strategies that drive brand growth across diverse industries.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Insight & Market Intelligence
Analyze market landscapes and category trends across multiple sectors (FMCG, F&B, finance, real estate, telecom, automotive, wellness & beauty, etc.) to identify growth drivers and strategic risks.
Assess brand competitive positioning through a multi-layered lens: market dynamics, consumer behavior, cultural signals, and channel patterns.
Synthesize data from various sources (social listening, syndicated reports, media performance, sales data) into actionable insights that shape strategic direction.
2. Brand & Communication Strategy Development
Develop brand positioning, brand ideas, core messages, and strategic narratives tailored to each category's dynamics.
Build full-funnel communication strategies grounded in consumer journey mapping - from awareness and consideration to conversion and loyalty.
Collaborate closely with the Creative team to transform strategic foundations into ideas that are culturally relevant, brand-consistent, and business-oriented.
3. Campaign Direction & Evaluation
Oversee the strategic integrity of campaigns: writing briefs, participating in brainstorms, assessing creative concepts, and ensuring brand coherence across touchpoints.
Establish measurement frameworks appropriate to different categories (brand lift, conversion metrics, penetration, NPS, etc.), analyze performance, and extract learnings for ongoing optimization.
Present and defend strategic recommendations with clear logic, strong evidence, and category understanding.
4. Strategic Collaboration & Thought Leadership
Lead or participate in client workshops, strategic discussions, and presentations.
Continuously track emerging consumer trends, cultural shifts, technologies, and marketing practices to elevate the agency's strategic capabilities.
Provide guidance to junior planners when needed.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related fields.
2-4 years of experience in Planning/Strategy within a creative or integrated agency.
Strong analytical capability, structured strategic thinking, and sharp writing skills.
Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
Fluency in English is a strong advantage.
