Sourcing Specialist/engineer (Direct Material)

Primary Purpose
The primary purpose of the Sourcing Specialist/Engineer (Direct material) role is to effectively manage and execute daily sourcing activities for responsible goods and services, manage open requisitions, and lead the procurement process to align with and fulfill business requirements efficiently.
Team Environment
We are seeking for Sourcing Specialist/Engineer (Direct Material), you will be part of the DSS - Vietnam division. You will collaborate closely with internal department users, stakeholders, and external suppliers to ensure smooth and seamless sourcing operations.
Key Responsibilities
Sourcing Engineer (Direct Material) - NPI
• Partner with Molex Design teams throughout Product Development process to manage BOM cost through Product Launch.
• New product supplier identification, sourcing, selection and contracting for the DSS division .
• Lead the transition of new and/or existing projects from other sites to Hung Yen plant.
• Bring Design to Value (Manufacturing, Quality, Cost, etc.) viewpoint to Product design teams.
• Conduct should-cost and make vs. buy analyses to support sourcing decision.
• Negotiate terms as required and in accordance with internal policies.
• Apply appropriate category strategies in line with preferred suppliers (Metals, Plastics, Electronics, and Outsourcing etc.) to new product sourcing needs.
• Proactive supply risk management in the new product development process and initial volume phase.
• Drive supply chain localization in regions.
• Assist Sourcing - MP team aligned with team's goal and strategy.
Sourcing Engineer (Direct material) - MP
• Manage sourcing and procurement activities for direct materials to support manufacturing and business requirements.
• Lead supplier sourcing, evaluation, selection, and onboarding to build a competitive and reliable supply base.
• Develop strong supplier relationships and conduct regular business reviews to ensure performance in quality, delivery, cost, and service.
• Drive cost reduction and value improvement initiatives through supplier consolidation, volume leverage, commercial negotiations, localization and sourcing optimization.
• Monitor supplier performance, market trends, and sourcing risks to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with sourcing policies, contractual agreements, and preferred supplier strategies while maintaining confidentiality and business integrity.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders including NPI Sourcing Engineer, Engineering, Quality, Production, and Supply Chain teams to support operational and project needs.
