The Job
We are looking for a Vietnam-based passionate tech leader, whose mission is to drive the success of a newly founded HRS Technology Unit covering a unique venture within the HRS Group. HRS is creating a new technology unit based on our existing successful platforms developed and operated from our Innovation Hub in Ho-Chi-Minh City, Vietnam. The new Technology Unit will be an exciting challenge for a passionate engineering and tech leader by integrating and developing new technology, ramping up and lead the engineering teams of the new business venture. You will ramp up new team and integrate into existing development hub, and defining the architecture of the new platform along with the CTO of Government, Crisis & Insurance Solutions.
HRS operates globally with technology innovation hubs in Germany, Ukraine, Poland, India and Vietnam. The engineering mission of HRS is to build a scalable, resilient, and secure platform to serve our global customers. HRS is seeking an inspirational Head of Engineering for the Government, Insurance and Crisis Solutions platform. We seek a "StartUp mindset" for technology-driven solutions and a leader who will attract, develop, and lead a strong team of developers, Architects, QAs, DevOps and advocate HRS's Technology mission. The Head of Engineering will report to the CTO of the Business Unit.
- Lead, recruit and develop the engineering team for the Business Unit in Ho-Chi-Minh City and build excellent products for our customers
- A strong focus on ramping up start-up business environments including delivery of MVPs
- Set project timelines and ensure that projects are completed on schedule and within budget
- Manage a variety of responsibilities including building up excellent software engineering teams
- Work with various product and business stakeholders and form a highly innovative team
- Transform the technology architecture to support the Company's growth ambitions, build scalable and durable platform solutions, and customize best-in-class software products
- Continue and extend Software Engineering Standards by improving engineering processes for software development metrics, DevOps, quantitative techniques, and quality control
- Manage the selection and interdependencies of programming languages, frameworks, operating systems, internet-cloud, web-application servers, databases, and mobile
- Manage the software development lifecycle by collaborating across teams to evolve Agile SDLC, including functional requirements analysis, design specification, technical code review, project planning, and implementation of applications and systems
- Work closely with the product leadership team to align technology strategy with internal and customer expectations
- Work with stakeholders to develop requirements, ascertain priorities, and report progress
- Ensure that all engineering projects are in compliance with industry standards and regulations
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to the engineering team
- Prepare and present progress reports to upper management and stakeholders
Your Skills and Experience
- BSc and/or MSc degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field
- 5+ years of progressively increasing responsibility to lead and coordinate distinct functions within a global and/or distributed technology organization
- Vast Experience with cloud technologies including AWS, Google Cloud Platform, and/or Microsoft Azure
- Ability to engage with customers and partners on a technical level to support and drive our product success
- Familiar with organizational design, capacity planning, recruiting, and proven ability to scale teams 2x+
- Agile driven product development experience
- Hands-on experience in back-end and front-end development
- Ability to own and manage multiple concurrent projects, including presenting and negotiating with stakeholders and customers on the interdependencies and possibilities of what can realistically be delivered
- Responsibility for product delivery and management including development tools and technologies, release and version control, automated testing methodologies, and deployment management
- Ability to keep up with a fast-paced internal environment where products and solutions evolve quickly and need to be accurately integrated into customer/sales story lines as the solutions evolve. Embracing change is a must.
- Fluent English including excellent written and verbal communication is a must
