Academic Quality Enhancement Officer

POSITION PURPOSE
The Academic Quality Enhancement Officer (AQEO) will work with Discipline Leads, Programme Leaders and teaching faculty to achieve and maintain the required quality of all supporting and student-facing summative assessment documentation and associated materials. As an institution that differentiates itself on teaching excellence and providing an outstanding student experience, it is important that all academic summative assessment documentation is fit for purpose, accurate, error free and is conformant with partner and accreditation organisations' requirements. Working in a collegiate manner with academics and administrative staff the AQEO will maximise the benefits to the University of an efficient, effective and error-free assessment operation.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Working alongside the Discipline Leads to facilitate close management, monitoring and continuous improvement of all summative assessment documentation in terms of accuracy, appropriateness and compliance with the requirements of the programme structure and module descriptors of BUV and partner degrees.
1. Lead, mentor, manage and support academic staff in the provision of quality academic summative assessment documentation through the authoring, moderation and approval cycle. Ensure that summative assessment documentation presented to Registry for approval by partner institutions is of appropriate quality.
2. Support Discipline Leads in obtaining partner institution approval of module assessments and monitoring and managing approval status against target release dates per academic module.
3. Comply with and manage the development of the relevant summative assessment documentation workflow systems and processes, giving consideration and adapting to differing workflow and resource needs across the disciplines and ensuring compliance with internal and external stakeholder requirements.
4. Work with Deputy University Registrar, Dean of Higher Education and Academic Leadership Team in various quality accreditation, partner universities' validation and annual quality review projects.
5. Plan and deliver regulation training to students of various degree prgrammes. Assist Head of Quality in faculty training.
6. Keep abreast of developments and sector norms in academic processes, develop policies and procedures in response to internal strategic priorities and external factors.
7. Maintain an active and effective network of internal, partner institution and external stakeholder contacts, in line with the requirements of the role.
8. Maintain effective working relationships with colleagues across BUV in order to provide a joined-up, efficient and effective service to colleagues, students, and other stakeholders.
9. Provide timely information, statistic and insight of quality assurance to University Registrar and Dean of Higher Education.
10. Undertake other duties, as requested by the Academic Leadership Team, and participate in the delivery of key BUV events, such as Open Days, Induction/Registration and Graduation.
This position description is intended to provide a broad outline of the main responsibilities of the post. The postholder is expected to be flexible in developing their role in agreement with their line manager. The position description will be subject to regular review in consultation with the postholder, in accordance with the changing needs of BUV and the requirements of the role.
