***Service Overview
The International SOS Assistance Centres provide 24 hour international medical and travel assistance to our corporate members and travel insurance customers when they are travelling or living overseas.
***Position Overview
The Coordinating Doctor, Assistance provides clinical direction and medical support physically or virtually to the 24-hour assistance centre in HCMC when working with customers in Vietnam and worldwide.
***Key Responsibilities
• Demonstrate an understanding of the differences in the scope of services we provide for each client and confidently deal with each case type appropriately.
• Provide professional telephone medical advice to patients and monitor the appropriateness of the medical treatment in different settings, such as at admission, OPD, or IPD
• Obtain medical reports verbally from treating Doctors to ascertain the suitability of the patient's treatment and/or to coordinate the patient's needs for transport.
• Obtain medical reports from the patient's doctor or local specialists to aid treatment.
• Obtain medical information by visiting patients and their treating doctor at the hospital
• Monitor the medical aspects of evacuations and repatriations, including assessing the necessity of an evacuation and how it should take place (briefing escort, supervising logistics, updating relevant parties)
• medical information forms with accuracy and within required timeframes.
• Maintain open communication lines with other medical and operational team members and other International SOS alarm center employees to ensure cases are effectively managed.
• Professionally document all patient case notes and details in the case management system.
• Create and update all medical actions on cases to reflect the appropriate plan of action and ensure that it is reflected in the transmission synopsis for hand over to the next shift.
• Ensure all tasks are fully up to date and completed within any given shift.
• Knowledge and adherence to International SOS internal policies and procedures, as well as policies and procedures outlined by our clients.
• Ensure that patient's information is stored appropriately in related systems and follows the internal procedures on privacy
• Communication with clients and other alarm centers through emails or confirmations is professional and meets business standards.
• Work as part of an on-call medical roster.
• Achieve relevant objectives/KPI as outlined by the direct Manager.
• Participate in work to define, prepare, write, and formalize training manuals, training and orientation, and continuous education programs for Coordinating Doctors, Operation Managers, and medical escort personnel.
• Act as a medical escort when required for appropriate medical cases.
• To participate, under the direction of the Senior Coordinating Doctor, and in consultation with the Business Development Manager, in social and professional activities which can make International SOS services better known and appreciated.
• To support the Global Assistance Network with professional advice
• Attend daily transmission during working days
• Draft referral letter
• Draft travel recommendations
• Provide appropriate referral
• Update client
• Assist to supervise equipment in the equipment room
• Support other GMA activities when required
• Perform other tasks such as assisting in interviewing candidates, covering sites, first aid training, and health talk when required
***Additional Responsibilities
• Perform international medical repatriations when required.
• Assist with the training of new Operations Coordinators and/or Coordinating Doctors during the induction program when required.
• To support the work of Coordinating Doctors by training and mentoring.
• To work within and promote all International SOS' policies, procedures and corporate values.
• To be aware of International SOS' OH&S policies, practices and procedures and actively participate in the ongoing development and enhancement of these important areas of our business.
• Undertaking project work or reasonable duties as requested by the direct Manager.

***Required Work Experience/Knowledge
• Medical Doctor with 5 years or more post graduation experience
• Experience gained within accident & emergency and general practice
***Desirable Work Experience/Knowledge
• Varied medical and/or health care system experience
• Experience in assistance, aviation, remote area medicine
