Full-Time Back-End Web Developer

Edgur is based in Atlanta, GA, in the United States, but we have remote positions, as well as in-person developer positions in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
About The Role:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Backend Developer to play a pivotal role in building our innovative platform from the ground up. As a key member of our development team, you will be instrumental in shaping the backend structure of our video-sharing platform. This role requires expertise in cloud services, particularly AWS, and a strong understanding of backend development principles. Your contributions will be critical as we embark on the creation of a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) that focuses on video-sharing, video recommendation, and user dashboards.
This is a short-term contract position with the possibility of an extension.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with company leaders, front-end developers, and other cross-functional teams to define and implement backend architecture for our video-sharing platform.
- Lead the design and development of databases and schema standards tailored to our platform's unique needs, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and data integrity.
- Utilize cloud services, primarily AWS, to deploy, manage, and scale backend infrastructure components.
- Develop APIs and endpoints that enable seamless communication between the front-end and back-end systems as well as external APIs including but not limited to OpenAI API and HuggingFaceHub API.
- Implement robust security measures and authentication mechanisms to safeguard user data and platform integrity.
- Optimize backend performance to ensure fast loading times and smooth user experiences.
- Conduct regular testing, debugging, and performance tuning to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Collaborate in code reviews and maintain high coding standards while promoting best practices.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and cloud service advancements, particularly in the AWS ecosystem.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
