Head of Software Development

Live group are seeking a talented and experienced Head of software development to join our growing team and be part of a multi-national team. Reporting directly to our Australian based Technology Director, the role will consist of responsibility for the people management and technical leadership of a development team working on internal and external products, including back and front-end systems. You will be responsible to grow the team of multiple talents including Business Analysts, Developers, QC Engineers, Project Managers, Database Engineers and DevOps Engineers. Duties include:

• Provide management and leadership to several Agile team responsible for software design, implementation, testing and deployment.
• Closely cooperate with different offices in Australia.
• Own remediation of technical debt
• Line management (1:1 meetings, personal development & training plan, career path, probation reviews, and performance reviews);
• Implement, monitor, and report all team KPIs & SLAs
• Lead initiatives for implementing efficient development and delivery processes.
• Define skills gaps in the team and build up strategies to bridge the gaps and grow the team.
• Provide input to and deliver technology road map
• Identify, implement, and communicate best practices, design patterns, design/coding standards for engineering.

• University degree in IT field or equivalent industry experience
• Leading and management of development teams. 10+ years overall experience in software development. 5+ years' experience in leading cross-functional Agile teams
• Fluent in English communication skills (both verbal & written)
• Strong people leadership, team building, motivation, and coaching skills
• Experience in a management and leadership position at an international financial services company, as well as have a sound development background and experience.
• Deep understanding of Software Quality, DevOps environments, and Micro-Service technologies
• Experience in working with multiple stakeholders, across two countries, with conflicting priorities
