Job Purpose:
- Lead the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) function to provide strategic financial insights and support decision-making across the organization.
- Manage SLV's strategic financial initiatives portfolio (including M&A activities) and measure the success of business strategy through financial KPIs and OKRs.
- Deliver critical financial projects that transform SLV's business within the Client Impact strategy.
- Drive best practices for financial management according to SLV's governance framework.
- Spearhead expense optimization initiatives and oversee distribution compensation function under Finance.
- Lead the Value Realization Office (VRO) to ensure maximum value creation and realization from strategic initiatives.
Major Accountabilities:
1. Lead the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) - 25%
- Oversee the development and implementation of robust financial planning and forecasting processes. Involve in the analyses of financial results and KPIs.
- Lead the preparation of annual business plans, quarterly forecasts, and long-term financial projections in collaboration with other departments, working closely with senior leadership to identify financial opportunities, determine strategic priorities, and develop action plans
- Provide in-depth financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and identify areas for performance improvement.
- Develop and maintain financial models to evaluate business performance, new initiatives, and potential investments.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to provide financial insights and recommendations for optimizing performance.
2. Lead expense optimization efforts - 20%
- Develop and implement comprehensive expense optimization strategies across the organization.
- Analyze current expense structures and identify areas for cost reduction without compromising quality or performance.
- Collaborate with department heads to set and achieve productivity savings targets.
- Regular reporting on expense optimization progress and outcomes to senior leadership
3. Oversee distribution compensation function in Finance - 15%
- Assess financial feasibility for new distribution compensation schemes and review existing ones when necessary.
- Analyze the impact of compensation strategies on sales performance and company financials.
- Recommend and implement adjustments to distribution compensation as needed.
- Lead the distribution compensation team under finance to make sure payments to distributors are accurate and timely
4. Lead and manage the Value Realization Office (VRO) - 15%
- Establish and maintain a robust framework for identifying, tracking, and realizing value from strategic initiatives.
- Develop and implement methodologies for quantifying and monitoring both financial and non-financial benefits of projects and initiatives.
- Collaborate with project teams and business units to ensure alignment between strategic objectives and value realization.
- Regularly report on value realization progress to senior leadership, highlighting successes and areas for improvement.
- Foster a culture of value-driven decision making across the organization.
5. Provide focused support to key strategic initiatives - 10%
- Take the lead in preparing (or supporting business owner in preparing) business cases, presentations and other materials for key new strategic initiatives, including Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) work.
- Act as liaison with member/partner points of contact for coordination of key meetings and/or conference calls.
- Design and manage processes to select and evaluate opportunities and facilitate discussions with the SLV leadership team to review and prioritize opportunities.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders within SLV, Regional Office and functional support areas (Legal, HR, Marketing, Finance etc) in the development and review of business cases and approved initiatives to ensure a coordinated and synchronized approach across SLV.
6. Maintain strategic market intelligence watch - 10%
- Perform research and analysis on SLV's competitive and market environment to generate business insights and to identify emerging trends affecting the business. This can include preparation of market overviews, benchmarking of competitors, assessment of industry developments, and evaluation of potential new business cases, partnerships, and other strategic growth initiatives to strengthen our competitive position.
- In charge of issuing a comprehensive quarterly market intelligence report
7. Facilitate Weekly Leadership Team (LT) Meeting - 5%
- Attend weekly leadership team (LT) meeting and take accurate minutes
- Follow-up with relevant LT following the meeting to ensure that documented action items are completed as required

Specialized knowledge: Strong understanding of operation of a life insurance company as well as the competitive landscape in Vietnam

Education:
- University graduate in actuarial science or accounting with at least 10 years of relevant experience in a life insurance related role
- Fellow of one of the internationally recognized actuarial organizations
Communication:
As a senior leader in the organization, the role will frequently interact with many (internal and external) stakeholders. Internally, the role will interact with members of the leadership team (LT) as well as the leaders of some functional teams. Outside of Sun Life Vietnam, the role will frequently interact with contacts in regional office (RO) as well as Corporate (from time-to-time).
This job is expected to communicate to:
- Vietnam Leadership Team (LT)
- Other Heads of Department / Divisions as daily work
- IT Project Managers and delivery team upon required
- Regional Office
