Java Backend Developer

You will join other Developers, Manager Engineers, Test Automation Engineers, and Business Analysts. You'll help to build key modules of our product where you'll use and grow your experience to architect and build cloud applications, APIs and back end Java services to maintain high availability and reliability.

You'd work across the Service Team collaborating within your own squad, individual developers, and manager engineers to deliver first class banking software that provides real value to our customers and an outstanding user experience.
You will be a strong team player with good written and verbal communication skills, and a desire to participate in all aspects of the SDLC.

Responsibilities include:

• Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Java services.
• Follow our Software Development Life Cycle (based on SAFE methodology).
• Gaining a deep understanding of our technology stack, driving our strategic plans with the ability to raise questions where necessary.
• Supporting the deployment and progression of services from test environments through to production.
  

Applicants must have a strong background in:

• Java(8+), Spring Boot, Postgres
• Agile methodologies.
• Secure coding practices.
• Git and/or GitHub.
• Unit, component and integrated component testing and associated tooling.
• Strong experience with Spring Boot and microservices architecture.
• Familiarity with REST API development, validation, and exception handling.
• Database experience with PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases.
• Understanding of SOLID principles and design patterns.

Experience with the following would be advantageous:

• Collaboration and project management tools - especially Rally and Confluence.
• API design using Swagger / OpenAPI
• Automated testing frameworks and processes.
• Cloud development experience (AWS, Azure).
• Hands-on experience with reactive programming and Kafka.
• Expertise in CI/CD frameworks like Jenkins and Harness, and cloud platforms (AWS/EKS/RDS/EC2).
• Knowledge of code vulnerability tools (e.g., SonarQube, Checkmarx).
