Private Sector Partnership Specialist

Chemonics International Inc., is USAID's implementing partner on Vietnam Action Against Plastic Pollution (VnAAPP) Project. The Project is an innovative and ambitious program designed to reduce ocean plastic pollution at its source in Vietnam through strategic approaches such as convening stakeholders' power, promoting creation and implementation of data-driven policies, enhancing knowledge and sharing learning, promoting appropriately scaled technology and solutions, and providing technical expertise and building capacity of local governments to manage waste at its source to prevent plastic pollution in our oceans. Three main objectives of the Project are (i) supporting multi-stakeholder actions for Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), (ii) supporting scalable, demonstrated Single-Use Plastic Products (SUP) reduction measures, and (iii) supporting the development and implementation of sub-national level Integrated Solid Waste Management Plans (ISWM).
The Private Sector Partnership Specialist will lead systemic and sustained engagement of the private sector in implementation of the VnAAPP's goals. This will be done by engaging with national, regional, and global private sector partners and establishing areas for partnership, not limited to resource mobilization, technical assistance, and knowledge sharing.
*** Key Responsibilities
▪ Research and identify potential private sector partners including non-financial private sector engagements in support of VnAAPP's program objectives.
▪ Map the roles and responsibilities, and the opportunities of the private sector partners and engagements to support the delivery of the Project's program objectives, in conjunction with the Technical Team.
▪ Manage and coordinate relationships with key partners and provide technical input to senior management's efforts to develop new and innovative partnerships.
▪ Provide technical guidance, advice and support to cluster lead and the Project managers to develop and implement partnership model with identified private sector partners/actors
▪ Oversee the partner risk assessment standards for due diligence to manage risk related to new partnerships.
▪ Work closely with technical team to support the development and maintenance of strategic shared-value partnerships with the business sector that can contribute to acceleration of results for the Project and GoV.
▪ Deepen and expand VnAAPP's engagements with the private sector and tap into its core businesses and expertise with a view to accelerate results for the Project's objectives.
▪ Raise awareness among corporate actors on EPR, SUP reduction and ISWM and the need for businesses to support EPR, SUP reduction and ISWM in their operations and value chains.
▪ Engage partners and actors in the business sector to explore innovative financing in support of Government of Vietnam (GoV) agenda to manage waste and prevent pollution.
▪ Support EPR and PSE Lead in providing PSE capacity building and knowledge exchanges for the project Consortium Partners and support corporate applications for EPR.
▪ Facilitate partnership and resource mobilization training to technical staff and managers including the development of tools and products, as needed.
▪ Support MEL Specialist in the development of M&E framework for the proposed partnership and engagement initiatives.
▪ Other relevant task required for the Project and/or assigned by the supervisor.
