1. Leadership and Team Management:
Lead and mentor a team of mechanical engineers, providing technical guidance, feedback, and fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
Manage project timelines, resource allocation, and ensure the successful delivery of mechanical designs from concept to production.
Collaborate with other department leads (Product Design, Electrical Engineering, Software, Manufacturing) to align on product development goals and strategies.
2. Product Design and Development:
Oversee the mechanical design of smart home appliances, ensuring products meet functional, aesthetic, and manufacturability requirements.
Drive the end-to-end mechanical engineering process, from initial concept development, CAD modeling, and prototyping, to testing and final production.
Work closely with industrial designers to ensure the mechanical design aligns with the overall product vision and user experience.
Optimize designs for cost, manufacturability, and performance, ensuring products can be produced at scale without compromising quality.
3. Innovation and Problem-Solving:
Identify and implement innovative solutions to engineering challenges, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in smart home technology.
Stay current with industry trends, materials, and manufacturing techniques to continuously improve product designs.
Lead failure analysis and troubleshooting efforts, quickly identifying and resolving issues to maintain project momentum.
4. Collaboration and Communication:
Serve as the primary mechanical engineering liaison with external partners, including suppliers, manufacturers, and testing labs.
Communicate engineering concepts and decisions effectively to non-technical stakeholders, including executives and product managers.
Ensure all mechanical engineering documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with relevant standards and regulations.
