JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsibilities:
Teaching Assistant hours in class
Taking classes as requested
Having substitution as requested
Classroom Management
Support teachers in class/during the course
Assist students in class/during the course
Control and take care of students in class
Assign and mark homework
Course Administration
Prepare and distribute course books, materials and merchandise
Update students with course progress information
Check students' attendance daily
Prepare students for exams, Cambridge
Deliver letters
Report any incidents or problems to TAO
Learning and Development
Attend Workshop and Training as requested
Customer Care
Report students' progress - results (monthly)Call parent for absent students
Support in delivering and collecting CSS from parents (K&J)Support in handling requests and complaints
Tutoring weak students
Support Events (end of course, enrichment, ESOL ...)
Calling Letter New Course
Support in re-enrolment tasks when requested
REQUIREMENTS
Pastoral Responsibilities:
Promote a positive, confident and happy learning community when dealing with teachers, parents or students.
Encourage and enforce an English speaking environment for all students within the school classrooms. No communication in Vietnamese should be allowed during and within English classes.
Work closely with other staff members as a team to ensure students' progress are well documented and communicated.
Work and communicate professionally with colleagues.
Assist in marketing programmes and parent discussion groups and other programmes to promote the school and its philosophies as/when required.
Support and implement the student code of conduct.

BENEFITS
On commencement of work at ILA we strive to ensure that you have all the training and support to confidently commence working with students, teachers and staff. The induction of teaching assistants has input from both academic and ELT administration and involves training sessions, observations and workshops.
The goal of the TA induction is to ensure that all teaching assistants commence work with the necessary skills to:
Assist teachers in class  Assist students in class
Conduct their administrative responsibilities accurately, timely and confidently  Liaise with parents confidently and professionally
Communicate knowledge of their classes and the materials, the school and its products
Work with children appropriately The TA induction consists of four workshops that all TAs are required to attend. These must be completed within the first three months of employment. They may be run by academic staff or TAO.

ILA Jumpstart Workshop - Introduction to teaching ILA Jumpstart (only for TAs teaching ILA Jumpstart classes) In addition, an administration session will be run by the TAO and this will cover the following areas;
Course administration;
Administration of a class;
All areas of the course folder - how to fill in input areas;
Comments and phone calls;
Classes and levels;
The TA handbook;
ILA is a learning institution and we spend considerable time and resource on training and development of all staff at all levels. The improvement of our services as well as the knowledge and skills of our staff is our goal. There are many professional development workshops and all teaching assistants are encouraged to attend as many workshops as possible as part of their professional development. Your training centre will provide regular workshops which may include sessions on customer service, product knowledge, aspects of teaching, or administration. These workshops will normally be run by one of the following people: a member of academic staff, TCM, TAO, DM or PE. All teaching assistants are required to attend at least one workshop per month unless otherwise stated on the notice board. From time to time there are one-off workshops or training sessions that teaching assistants may be required to attend and all teaching assistants will be made aware of this as they occur. National Holidays, ILA Holidays and Days of Interest A link to the latest holidays can be found on the main page of the Intranet. There are approximately 9 days of Vietnamese national holidays throughout the year. As a rough guide ILA Vietnam is usually closed for:
New Year's Day (January 1 st)
Tet Holidays (Lunar New Year's Eve, 1st, 2nd, 3rd of Tet)
King Hung's Death Anniversary (the 10th of the third lunar month)
Liberation Day (April 30th)
Labour Day (May 1 st)
National Day (September 2 nd)
ILA's Christmas Party (December)
Christmas Day (December 25th)
ILA Events
ILA organizes events for teachers, TAs and staff on a regular basis. These may be organized by centre, by city or, in the case of the Christmas Party, on a nationwide basis. Previous events have included quiz nights, charity fundraisers, pool parties, BBQs, Halloween parties, hotel dinners and of course the annual Christmas party.
These events are not mandatory but offer teachers, TAs and staff a great chance to relax with one another, meet new people and have a great time.
