This position will be located in Hanoi and is a locally engaged position subject to Vietnamese labor law and is available for only Vietnamese nationals.
Business Development Manager will:
• Be an integral part of the Vietnam's AFC team to provide services to Australian companies looking to enter and expand in Vietnam, including providing advice on market conditions, market entry strategies, potential partners and the regulatory environment; conducting market research, coordinating events and visit programs; and providing in-market support.
• Under the supervision of the Senior Business Development Manager - AFC, support the Senior/Trade and Investment Commissioners and the AFC team on reporting, marketing, strategic communications, business development and related activities.
• Manage efficiently a fast-changing AFC workload covering diverse stakeholders and partners, within internally and externally driven timeframes.
• Assist in planning, coordinating and implementing business matching activities such as trade and promotional events, retail campaigns, trade displays and market visits, including by government Ministers and officials.
• Work collaboratively with Austrade colleagues in Australia, States, Territories and partners (professional firms and industry bodies)
• Undertake research and analysis in AFC and related industry sectors, recognizing emerging global, regional and local trends. Match Australian industry capabilities with potential trade opportunities in Vietnam.
• Monitor macroeconomic and corporate developments across Vietnam and inter ASEAN to identify themes, trends, risk factors or investment opportunities.
• Report writing including drafting and preparation of research reports and analysis of AFC and related industries' development as and when required.
• Utilise internal databases and knowledge management systems to support work practices. Actively apply Austrade business practices and maintain accuracy of information in all Austrade business systems to deliver accurate and timely reporting and effective relationship management.
• Contribute to knowledge creation within Austrade by sharing knowledge, information and insights to support the enhancement of Austrade's digital service channels.
• Build and maintain networks with key business contacts, government agencies and other stakeholders in Vietnam.
• Work closely with businesses to determine their needs and help them develop international growth strategies specific to your market
• Clearly communicate Austrade's services and value proposition to clients and partners

• Have knowledge, expertise and networks across international industry supply chains - food, agribusiness, retail and/or e-commerce (relevant to the agriculture and food sectors).
• Have experience in account management and business development roles supported by commercial acumen and consultative selling skills.
• Demonstrated experience in the development and management of productive working relationships (with Australian enterprises, local customers, government bodies, industry groups etc.) as well as proven ability to utilise a network to help achieve business results in an international context.
• Excellent presentation, communication and marketing skills (including social media) with a particular ability to influence and negotiate agreement with multiple stakeholders and promote Australia to a broad range of audiences.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the agribusiness and food industry in an international context specifically as it relates to the Vietnam market including policy, market regulations, market and customer dynamics, supply chain logistics and procurement.
• Understanding of key issues in doing business in a global context and the Australian business environment.
• Be accountable for meeting key performance measures including high client satisfaction and strategic export outcomes.
• Work effectively and autonomously in geographically dispersed and culturally diverse teams to achieve shared goals.
