Customs Specialist
(Open to Senior Customs Specialist position)
Role Purpose
Ensure all inbound and outbound shipments, as well as related business activities, comply with Vietnamese customs requirements, and resolve customs compliance issues as they arise;
Responsible for customs liquidity report, reconcile data to ensure there is no gap among liquidity report vs inventory report;
Role Responsibilities
Prepare and manage the quarterly liquidity report, including detailed analysis of material flow from inbound receipt through export to customers to identify duty and tax exposure;
Oversee the customs-compliant scrapping and disposal of raw materials and finished goods;
Develop, maintain and enhance customs self-audits, contingency plans, workload reviews, customs procedures, record-keeping controls and performance monitoring of logistics service providers;
Implement and continuously improve customs processes, procedures and technology tools, applying best practices and adapting them to Vietnamese regulatory requirements;
Develop and maintain the Harmonized System (HS) code determination process from purchase and import through sales and export, and monitor HS code availability and accuracy via defined KPIs;
Work closely with operating units, internal teams, customs service providers, forwarders and carriers to ensure smooth material and goods flow, accurate documentation, timely delivery and proper customs declarations; escalate issues as required;
Manage and oversee the process for certificates of ordinary country of origin in compliance with Vietnamese customs requirements;
Support the management and monitoring of daily customs-related operations, including ocean and air freight, customs clearance, packing processes and customs audits;
Provide instruction and customs-related training to employees to ensure correct execution of assigned tasks;
Monitor task execution and address deviations to maintain compliance with customs procedures and controls;
Collaborate with management to define realistic and challenging customs and logistics operational goals and contribute to their achievement;
Provide support to regional or global customs compliance activities when required, within the scope of Vietnam operations;
Perform additional customs-related tasks as assigned by the Logistics Manager, Global Customs Team Leader or Customs Specialist Asia;
Role Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Logistics/ Import-Export/ International Trade Management or related;
Proficiency in English (written and spoken) is essential for the role;
Years of experience:
For Customs Specialist: Minimum 3- 5 years of experience with customs liquidation report that require deep analysis in material flow from incoming until export to customers;
For Senior Customs Specialist: Minimum 7 years in the similar position, in which 5 years of experience with customs liquidation report;
Experience with the Vietnamese customs import and export, especially in EPZ scope or manufactured for export scope;
Experience in E-customs software VNACCSS;
Experience in ordinary country of origin, FTA is an advantage;
Comprehensive knowledge of Vietnamese customs laws, regulations and tariff systems to ensure full compliance of all import and export activities with government requirements;
Practical, hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, with solid understanding of logistics processes, customs operations and trading activities;
Thorough knowledge of import and export procedures in Vietnam, including customs declaration, clearance processes and required documentation;
Strong understanding of operational procedures of shipping lines, port authorities and other relevant government agencies involved in customs clearance;
In-depth knowledge of ERP systems and their application within customs, logistics and material flow processes;
Strong computer skills, including advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications for data handling, analysis and reporting;
