I. ABOUT THE ROLE:
Gremsy Solutions is seeking a hands-on Drone System Test and Support Engineer to ensure the flawless operation of our drone ecosystems. In this role, you will bridge the gap between hardware integration, system testing, and customer success.
You will be our frontline expert in system behavior. You will act as a "black-box" and "gray-box"
tester, flying the drones, wiring and troubleshooting hardware components, validating MAVLink communications via the Ground Control Station, and guiding enterprise customers through their integration challenges before escalating complex bugs to our core development team.
II. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Hardware & Firmware Integration: Connect and wire core UAV components, including flight controllers (PX4, Ardupilot), ESCs, motors, GPS, telemetry, and payloads (LiDAR, cameras) [cite: 1]. Ensure safe power and signal distribution. Learn to configure open-source firmware and map RC channels.
System Testing & QA: Execute comprehensive test plans on the drone system. Verify correct MAVLink protocol communication between the Ground Control Station (e.g., NexGCS, QGroundControl) and the drone hardware.
Flight Operations: Execute real-world flight missions to validate system and hardware stability[cite: 1, 2]. Perform basic sensor calibration (IMU, compass, GPS) and assist the R&D team with system tuning.
Troubleshooting & Documentation: Extract and analyze flight logs (`.bin`, `.ulg`) to isolate hardware faults versus software issues. Create and maintain technical documentation, including wiring diagrams and pre-flight checklists.
Customer Support (L1/L2): Act as the first line of technical support for external
developers and OEMs integrating our hardware and NexGCS application. Package clean, reproducible bug reports (with logs) to escalate to the core engineering team.
III. REQUIREMENTS:
Experience: 0-2+ years in hardware integration, embedded systems, QA/QC, or technical support.
Hardware Aptitude: Strong hands-on comfort working with electronics. Ability to read wiring diagrams, safely manage power distribution, and troubleshoot physical hardware connections.
Systematic Problem-Solving: Proven ability to logically isolate issues. Ability to monitor and interpret MAVLink messages via the remote control/GCS to determine whether an error is a hardware fault, a user-integration mistake, or a software bug.
Flight Operations: Strong commitment to flight safety protocols and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions for field testing. Note: Full pilot training will be provided if you have no prior flight experience.
Technical Foundation Basic understanding of networking concepts (e.g., TCP/UDP, IP addressing, Serial communication) and familiarity with the Linux command line and/or Python.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication, with the patience and mindset to help users troubleshoot complex integration issues.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Hands-on interest or hobbyist experience with drones (UAVs), robotics, RC aircraft, or configuring flight stacks like PX4/Ardupilot.
Familiarity with Ground Control Station (GCS) software (e.g., QGroundControl, Mission Planner).
Basic exposure to bug-tracking tools (e.g., Jira) or modern customer service/helpdesk platforms.
Relevant academic project experience involving embedded systems or hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) testing.
IV. BENEFITS:
A youthful, professional, and friendly working environment.
Working time 5 days/week (Mon-Fri)
Opportunities to interact and collaborate, and travel abroad for business with international partners (> 90% of our partners are international: USA, Europe, America, Southeast Asia, etc.).
