AGS AUDIT provides auditing, assurance, and related professional services in Vietnam, serving primarily Japanese-invested companies and other international businesses.
Through the AGS office network in Hanoi, Vinh (Nghe An), Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, and Can Tho, our team examines financial information, evaluates relevant internal controls, and communicates audit findings clearly and professionally.
Working with Japanese-invested companies offers practical experience in international business, client reporting requirements, cross-border communication, and coordination with finance teams and management.
We emphasize technical competence, professional ethics, teamwork, and continuous development. Through practical assignments, training, mentoring, and feedback, employees develop their auditing, accounting, tax, analytical, and communication skills.
Career progression is based on professional capability, work quality, performance, and individual career goals.
Role DescriptionWe are looking for a Junior Auditor to join our Audit & Assurance team.
You will participate in financial statement audits, primarily for Japanese-invested companies in Vietnam, under the guidance of Senior Auditors, Team Leaders, and Managers.
Responsibilities include performing audit procedures, analyzing financial data, documenting audit evidence, and preparing working papers for review. You will also help identify accounting issues, understand business processes and internal controls, and prepare audit findings and client communications.
This position suits candidates with approximately 1-3 years of experience in auditing, accounting, or taxation seeking a long-term career in audit and assurance.
Key Responsibilities1. Audit Planning and Engagement Preparation
Assist the engagement team in understanding clients' business activities, accounting processes, reporting requirements, and relevant internal controls. Collect and organize preliminary documents, perform initial financial analyses, and help prepare information required for audit planning.
Help identify areas requiring further attention and coordinate document requests, work schedules, and fieldwork arrangements.
2. Audit Fieldwork and Financial Statement Testing
Perform assigned audit procedures in accordance with approved audit programs and instructions from senior team members. Assigned areas may include cash and bank balances, receivables, payables, inventories, fixed assets, revenue, expenses, payroll, and tax-related balances.
Examine accounting records and supporting documents, perform reconciliations and analytical procedures, and test selected transactions and balances. Assist with inventory observations and external confirmation procedures under the engagement team's supervision.
Identify discrepancies, unusual transactions, missing documents, and other exceptions, and communicate them promptly to the responsible senior team member.
3. Internal Controls and Risk Assessment Support
Assist in documenting business processes and performing walkthroughs to understand how transactions are initiated, approved, recorded, and reported.
Carry out assigned tests of controls where relevant to the audit approach. Document observations and help the engagement team evaluate potential implications for financial reporting and further audit procedures.
Develop professional skepticism by asking appropriate questions, considering the reliability of evidence, and following up on inconsistencies rather than relying solely on explanations.
4. Audit Documentation and Reporting Support
Prepare accurate, organized, and clearly referenced audit working papers that document the procedures performed, evidence obtained, results identified, and conclusions proposed for review.
Assist in checking financial statements and related disclosures against accounting records and supporting schedules. Perform cross-checks, verify calculations, and follow up on review comments.
Prepare summaries of findings, proposed adjustments, outstanding matters, and draft inputs for audit reports or management letters, subject to review and approval by senior team members.
5. Client Communication and Team Coordination
Communicate professionally with client accounting and finance teams to request documents, clarify transactions, and follow up on outstanding information within the scope assigned by the engagement team.
Keep supervisors informed of progress, issues, and potential delays. Coordinate with colleagues to meet deadlines and provide responsive client service.
Support related tax, accounting, or advisory assignments when appropriate and approved by supervisors, while observing applicable independence requirements and client confidentiality obligations.
6. Professional Development and Service Quality
Participate in internal training, technical discussions, and knowledge-sharing activities. Continuously develop practical knowledge of Vietnamese Accounting Standards (VAS), Vietnamese Standards on Auditing (VSA), applicable accounting requirements, and relevant tax regulations.
Use Excel, digital documentation, and audit tools to improve the accuracy and efficiency of assigned work. Contribute suggestions for improving checklists, documentation, and internal processes.
Follow AGS quality procedures, maintain confidentiality, and promptly raise ethical concerns or potential conflicts of interest with the appropriate supervisor.
