About Nexlab Nexlab Technology is a software company of around 20 people based in Ho Chi Minh City, partnering with enterprise clients across healthcare, education, manufacturing, tourism, and commerce.
What sets us apart is that we run our entire development process on an AI foundation - and we're looking for people who want to enter the profession the way it will be practiced in the future, rather than relearning the old way of working. If you're curious about how a single engineer can produce output that used to require an entire team, this is a place where you'll experience exactly that, every day.
About the Role As a Junior Frontend Engineer , you'll own the interface layer for one or two enterprise client projects - from high-performance websites and internal portals to business web applications.
Most of the frontend code at Nexlab is generated by an AI coding agent under your direction; your core work is to translate designs and specifications into precise instructions for the agent, then verify the output down to every state. This is a role for people early in their career, and we evaluate you on the quality of your output, not on years of experience. You'll always have a mentor alongside you and a clear review process in the early stages.
How the Team Works - AI-First
The entire pipeline (specification
design
build
testing
release) runs onSpec-Driven Development, Nexlab's in-house methodology: the specification is the single source of truth, the AI coding agent builds to the spec, and humans verify at fixed gates.
Our guiding principle: AI proposes, humans decide.AI can generate a "looks-right" interface very quickly - the person who catches what's actually off in the empty state, the network error, Vietnamese text overflowing a line, or a 360px screen, is you.
The team works onsite so you can learn as fast as possible during the junior stage. We measure delivered outcomes, not hours at the desk.
"Junior" at Nexlab does not mean assembling interfaces from templates. You're given a clearly bounded part of the product and own its quality - with mentor support, mandatory reviews, and the release decision resting with the Technical Lead.
Key responsibility:
Operate the AI coding agent on your assigned interface (primary focus)
Read designs and specs and turn them into fully constrained instructions for the agent: component structure, design tokens, screen states, empty/error behavior, responsive rules.
Maintain project context for the agent: design tokens, existing component libraries, naming conventions, and boundaries to respect.
Break complex screens into steps the agent handles well, rather than building an entire page in a single pass.
Verify the output (the most important part of the role)
Compare the build against the design at both the pixel level and the behavior level: correct tokens and correct spacing - not "close enough."
Check what AI most often misses: loading/empty/error states, long Vietnamese content breaking the layout, keyboard interaction, contrast, and semantic tags.
Review the agent's generated code for unnecessary re-renders, incorrect effect dependencies, memory leaks, and unsafe data handling.
When the agent is systematically wrong, feed the correction back into the project's ruleset instead of patching each instance by hand.
Own the quality of your area
Integrate APIs, handle asynchronous states, and manage client-side data caching.
Take responsibility for measured performance: bundle size and Core Web Vitals (LCP, INP, CLS).
Test to a level appropriate to each screen's risk, prioritizing user-flow testing.
Take part in incident handling and write concise root-cause analyses (RCA).
Contribute back to the way we work
Package every effective component, rule, and prompt pattern into shared assets for the team.
Requirements
Under 2 years of frontend experience, or no professional experience yet but you've shipped at least one product to a real environment with real users (with a link or repo).
A solid web foundation:semantic HTML, modern CSS layout (flex, grid) at a level where you can build complex layouts on your own, and ES6+ JavaScript (understanding asynchrony and variable scope).
React at a genuinely functional level:components, state, effects, and understandingwhya component re-renders. [protected info] is a plus.
TypeScript at a basic level or above- a firm requirement: in an AI-assisted coding process, the type system is the fastest and cheapest verification tool you have.
A design sensesharp enough to spot spacing inconsistencies, poor balance, and broken visual hierarchy (you don't need to be able to design from scratch).
AI-native in daily work:you've used an AI coding agent or AI IDE (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or equivalent) for real work. This is an operating requirement, not a bonus.
AI-output verification mindset:you can describe a specific time you caught an AI-generated interface that "looked right but was fundamentally wrong," and how you found it.
Data awareness:you understand and comply with each project's rules for handling client data.
Fluent reading comprehension of English technical documentation.
A growth mindset:you ask early when stuck, and you only put into a pull request what you fully understand.
Nice to Have
Experience with [protected info] or Astro on real projects; an understanding of where SSR differs from CSR.
Experience integrating a Headless CMS or GraphQL.
Working knowledge of WCAG accessibility standards and practical SEO optimization.
Experience measuring and optimizing frontend performance with real metrics.
Ability to set up a CI/CD pipeline.
Strong Figma skills, with an understanding of design tokens and component systems.
Building your own prompt pipelines, skills, or AI workflows for your work.
