1. New product introduction (NPI): Design for Manufacturability (DFM) Review and provide feedback to customer, create process flowchart, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), define critical process parameters, select appropriate equipment, and establish efficient assembly methods. Create and maintain Bills of Materials, build instructions, conducting process trials, and addressing any issues or challenges that arise during the NPI build.
2. Process Analysis: Analyze existing manufacturing processes to identify areas for improvement in terms of efficiency, productivity, quality, and cost-effectiveness. This includes studying process flows, conducting time studies, and gathering data to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for optimization.
3. Process Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation of manufacturing processes, including process flow diagrams, standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and equipment specifications. Ensure that documentation is up to date and accessible to relevant stakeholders.
4. Component evaluation: Participate in evaluating the raw material and new supplier/ vendor with SQE, review and propose to customer for alternative component.
5. Process Improvement: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and quality assurance, to identify and implement process improvements. This may involve proposing and testing new techniques, technologies, or equipment to enhance productivity, reduce cycle times, minimize waste, or improve product quality.
6. Data Analysis: Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to manufacturing processes to monitor performance, identify trends, and drive decision-making. Use statistical tools and software to analyze data and generate reports, enabling informed process optimization and problem-solving.
7. Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: Investigate and resolve issues related to manufacturing processes, equipment failures, and product quality deviations. Work closely with production and maintenance teams to identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and prevent future occurrences.
8. Continuous Improvement: Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives, such as Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma, to promote a culture of continuous improvement. Contribute to projects aimed at reducing waste, improving efficiency, and enhancing overall process performance.
9. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, operators, technicians, and management, to ensure effective communication and alignment on process improvement initiatives. Share findings, recommendations, and progress updates with relevant stakeholders.
