Job Overview
The Accounting Lead owns the day-to-day execution and quality of end-to-end accounting operations for a licensed crypto-asset exchange. The role ensures the accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance of financial records, statements, and periodic reporting, with particular focus on the integrity of client-asset accounting and the reconciliation between the trading system and the accounting ledger. The incumbent also serves as a key liaison with auditors, regulators, and cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Accounting Operations & Controls
- Review and verify journal entries for all cash accounts - Company funds and Client funds held separately - and all payment transactions arising from business operations.
- Maintain strict accounting separation between client assets and Company assets, and ensure client balances are recorded completely and accurately at all times.
- Reconcile account balances daily; verify entries, outstanding balances, and client payables/receivables.
- Verify that transaction and settlement data pushed from the trading system into the accounting software is accurate and complete on a daily basis; investigate and resolve any breaks.
- Oversee accurate recording of Company holdings, including digital-asset positions and treasury balances, with appropriate accounting treatment for crypto assets.
- Receive, inspect, and reconcile accounting data; identify discrepancies and guide detail-level accountants on corrections.
- Stay current with applicable accounting regulations to ensure all postings comply with Vietnamese Accounting Standards (VAS) and relevant statutory requirements.
2. Financial Reporting
- Prepare the full set of financial statements (FS) and financial safety reports in compliance with VAS and IFRS.
- Prepare client-asset segregation and reserve/solvency reporting required under Moonbase's exchange license conditions and the pilot framework.
- Prepare periodic and ad-hoc filings for the tax authorities and the supervisory authority overseeing the licensed crypto-asset exchange pilot.
- Prepare intra-month provisional financial statements and ad-hoc reports as required.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports and management-accounting reports (BCQT) on schedule.
- Support AML/CFT-related financial reporting obligations under the Law on Anti-Money Laundering (Luật PCRT), in coordination with the Compliance function.
3. System & Process Development
- Define accounting and reconciliation requirements for the trading-system-to-ledger data pipeline, and work with Product and Engineering to translate them into system features.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal accounting processes and controls in line with industry best practices and the control environment expected of a regulated exchange.
4. Audit & Regulatory Liaison
- Act as a primary working-level contact for internal and external audit engagements (VAS and, where applicable, IFRS); coordinate data provision and respond to auditor queries, escalating to C-level as needed.
- Support regulatory inspections by preparing explanations and supporting documentation.
- Collaborate with other departments, external auditors, tax authorities, and the relevant supervisory bodies on accounting and financial matters.
5. Team Development & Advisory
- Train, mentor, and provide technical guidance to junior accountants.
- Advise the Chief Accountant on financial and accounting matters and propose practical solutions.
- Be accountable to the Chief Accountant for the accuracy and integrity of the accounting data the team produces.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Chief Accountant and Executive Management.
Work location: Ho Chi Minh City (On-site work preferred; flexibility possible for suitable candidates)
