🚢 VAN NINH INTERNATIONAL PORT IS HIRING - PEOPLE & LEGAL OFFICER
📍 Van Ninh Port, Mong Cai City, Quang Ninh Province, Vietnam | Full-time
🌊 About Van Ninh International PortVan Ninh International Port is a large-scale general cargo port project spanning nearly 83 hectares in Mong Cai, Quang Ninh - currently in its final stretch before launching full commercial operations. Phase 1 includes a 500-meter main berth capable of receiving vessels up to 20,000 DWT, targeting an initial handling capacity of around 1.68 million tons per year, scaling up to approximately 2.8 million tons per year in later phases.
Positioned right at the gateway of the Vietnam-China cross-border trade corridor, Van Ninh is being built to become one of the most dynamic seaports in Northern Vietnam - a strategic link in the regional supply chain with significant long-term growth potential.
This is not an organization that has already "settled in." This is a construction site transforming into a real, operating seaport - and we need people who are ready to build the organizational foundation right alongside the concrete one.
🎯 Why this is an opportunity you shouldn't miss• You'll join at a pivotal moment - as VNP transitions from a construction project to a fully operating commercial port (targeted commercial launch: December 2026).
You won't be stepping into a pre-built seat - you'll help shape the administrative, HR and legal backbone of an international seaport from the ground up.
The bigger the scale, the more complex (and valuable) the organizational challenges become - a rare environment for a professional to gain experience at the speed and stakes of a strategic infrastructure business.
🛠️ What you'll doGeneral Administration & HR
Build and run the organizational backbone: org charts, JD/RACI, internal policies and procedures for a fast-growing port.
Take a hands-on role in recruitment and onboarding to staff up for commercial operations - from office functions to port operations roles.
Manage personnel records, labor contracts, social insurance and statutory benefits in compliance with regulations.
Coordinate general office administration: correspondence, records management, vendors and office assets.
Legal Affairs
Conduct first-line review of commercial contracts, labor contracts and internal documents before they go to sign-off.
Track and maintain compliance with labor law, corporate law and regulations relevant to port operations.
Manage the company's internal legal records; act as the point of contact to escalate matters beyond scope to Group-level legal counsel or external lawyers.
🧭 Who we're looking for• Bachelor's degree in Law, Human Resource Management, Public Administration or a related field.
2-4 years of experience in general administration/HR; experience in in-house legal support or in the port, logistics or infrastructure construction sector is a strong plus.
Solid working knowledge of Vietnam's Labor Code, Enterprise Law and document/records management practices.
Basic English is an advantage; Chinese language ability is a significant plus given the port's location near the Mong Cai border.
More important than credentials: you're proactive, comfortable taking on work with no precedent, and unfazed by the "build the plane while flying it" pace of a fast-scaling organization.
📈 Your career path at Van Ninh PortWe're not hiring for a job - we're opening a journey. The path below reflects how responsibility and scope typically grow here, tied to actual performance and to the port's own growth:
People & Legal Officer (Year 1-2) Master the core function; build the foundation of records, processes and compliance for the organization.
Senior Specialist / Team Lead (Year 2-4) Own more complex workstreams, lead a small team, and get directly involved in the port's HR and legal decisions.
Deputy Manager, People & Legal (Year 4-6) Contribute to policy design, manage a team, and act as a direct interface with the Executive Management Board.
Manager / Head of People & Legal (Year 6-8+) Take full ownership of organization, people and legal matters for a port that has reached stable operations and continues to expand.
Long-term direction an executive-level role overseeing the People & Legal function of the Port - depending on your performance, results and the organization's needs as Van Ninh scales up.
This path reflects our intended direction for growth, not a written commitment on title, timing or compensation - how fast you move is largely up to you.
🔥 The Van Ninh Port SpiritWe're not looking for someone who just "gets the job done." We're looking for people who carry the Van Ninh Port Spirit - three things that define how we work:
PASSION - working with real energy for something being built, not out of obligation.
DECISIVENESS - willing to make the call, own the outcome, and take on hard problems even when there's no playbook yet.
FOREVER A STARTUP - no matter how big the port becomes, we keep the mindset of day one: agile, always learning, always looking to do better than yesterday.
🎁 Benefits• Competitive compensation tied to your capability and actual contribution - reviewed on an ongoing basis rather than a fixed, rigid pay track.
Statutory social insurance, health insurance and unemployment insurance in line with Vietnamese labor law.
A hands-on role at a strategic infrastructure project - a rare environment for fast professional growth.
(Specific salary bands and allowances will be discussed at interview stage - the formal compensation policy is currently being finalized by Executive Management.)
