The Role Unlock your potential with Hello Clever. We're seeking a Product Designer, Merchant Experience to own the merchant-facing product surface end to end: the CleverConnect dashboard merchants run their business from, payment and checkout configuration, transaction, settlement, payout, and refund visibility, rewards and loyalty configuration, reporting and insights, integrations, and self-service support.
You will sit in our Ho Chi Minh City hub alongside the engineering, support, and operations teams who build and run this product, and your work will serve merchants in every market we operate in. Position: Product Designer, Merchant Experience, full-time
Location: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Working mode: Hybrid (4 days in office)
Reporting to: Head of Product
Work rights: Applicants must have full working rights in Vietnam.
Responsibilities
Merchant Dashboard & Money Visibility: Design the CleverConnect dashboard merchants run their business from - home, navigation, transaction and settlement visibility, payout and refund status, and reporting - making money states legible, timely, and hard to misread.
Payment & Checkout Configuration: Design how merchants set up and manage checkout, payment methods, pricing, and payment links, so configuration is clear, transparent, and reversible.
Rewards & Loyalty Configuration: Design how merchants fund and manage cashback, offers, and milestone rewards, and how Clever AI insights reach them, so the value exchange is obvious to merchants and their customers.
Integrations & Self-Service: Design the ongoing integration and account management experience after a merchant goes live - connection health, webhook and event visibility, team and permission management, and self-service support paths.
Onboarding Partnership: Pair with the designer who owns the merchant onboarding and activation journey and the PM who owns merchant activation, shaping the post-signup merchant experience without claiming the signup-to-first-transaction journey.
Design System Contribution: Adopt, extend, and document the shared design system on the merchant surface - components, patterns, content standards, and accessibility guidelines - in coordination with the founding design system owner.
Product Discovery & Research: Partner with Product to understand merchants across markets through remote interviews, usability testing, activation and funnel data, support signals, and rapid experiments.
Interaction Design & Prototyping: Create flows, information architecture, wireframes, prototypes, high-fidelity UI, and detailed interaction and edge-state specifications, then work with Engineering through delivery and review implementation quality.
Trust, Risk & Compliance-Aware Design: Design experiences that make money movement, settlement timing, refund state, permissions, and audit history legible and trustworthy, consistent with regulated fintech expectations.
Cross-Functional Delivery: Work with the HCMC engineering, support, and operations teams and the global Product, Risk, Compliance, Sales, and Customer Success teams to move from ambiguous problem framing to shipped improvements and measurable learning.
What Success Looks Like
In the first 6 to 12 months, success looks like:
The merchant-facing surface has a coherent experience: shared patterns documented in the design system and in real use across dashboard, configuration, and rewards surfaces, not a personal file.
At least one merchant-experience improvement (dashboard, payment configuration, money visibility, or rewards configuration) has shipped with a defined success signal, measured across more than one market.
A repeatable merchant research cadence exists - remote interviews, support-signal review, funnel analysis - and Product can point to decisions it changed.
Engineering teams in HCMC ship your specifications with low rework because the specs, states, and edge cases were complete.
Exact targets will be set against Hello Clever's live roadmap and current design maturity, not fixed in this posting.
You're a Strong Fit if You Have
5-8 years of experience in product design, UX/UI design, interaction design, or a closely related discipline, including end-to-end ownership of complex, detail-dense customer-facing product surfaces. Fintech, payments, banking, SaaS, ecommerce, marketplace, or another regulated environment is strongly preferred.
A portfolio showing end-to-end ownership: problem framing, research, information architecture, flows, prototyping, high-fidelity UI, engineering handoff, and what you learned from what shipped.
Experience designing data-dense surfaces - dashboards, tables, status-heavy workflows, financial or operational data - where hierarchy, states, and edge cases carry the experience.
Strong craft: interaction and visual design judgement with real care for accessibility, content clarity, empty and error states, and production quality.
Experience contributing to a design system, component library, or content and accessibility standard that other designers and engineers actually adopted.
Professional working proficiency in English, with the ability to run research with merchants in English and argue design decisions with a global product and engineering team.
Experience working in a distributed team across time zones, and the communication discipline that requires: written thinking, direct trade-off discussion, and clarity without over-process.
The ability to explain design trade-offs across merchant value, operational risk, technical feasibility, compliance, and trust to practitioners and executives alike.
Bonus Points if You Have
Experience in fintech, payments, banking, wallets, QR payments, bank linking, ecommerce checkout, marketplaces, loyalty, or another regulated environment.
Familiarity with account-to-account payments, settlement, reconciliation, payouts, refunds, disputes, or platform fund-flow models.
Familiarity with Southeast Asian digital commerce and payment behaviour, including experience at regional payments, commerce, or super-app companies.
Experience designing merchant dashboards, reporting tools, integration management, or self-service support experiences in a two-sided marketplace or platform business.
Experience designing role-based access, permission, or audit-aware workflows.
Experience pairing with a design-system owner or scaling a system across multiple surfaces and teams.
