Reliability Engineer

In the performance of his/her duties, the Reliability Engineer:
1) Asset Management & Reliability Strategy
• Ensure full implementation of the company's Asset Management Processes and Standards.
• Identify critical processes and equipment, understanding their impact on throughput, quality, safety, and environmental compliance.
• Lead and support long-term asset management planning, budgeting (Capex/Opex), and lifecycle cost analysis (LCC).
• Maintain and update equipment criticality lists and reliability strategies in the CMMS.
• Participate in shutdown planning, long-term reliability roadmaps, and risk assessments for critical assets.
2) Maintenance Strategy Development & Optimization
• Develop, design, and refine asset maintenance plans including PM, PdM, and CBM tasks.
• Apply understanding of the Potential-Failure Curve to determine correct maintenance frequencies.
• Review predictive maintenance programs (vibration, thermography, oil analysis, ultrasound), recommending updates to monitoring type, routes, and frequency.
• Maintain and continuously improve the PM and PdM programs within the CMMS.
• Evaluate and implement new diagnostic and condition monitoring technologies.
3) Data Analysis, Trending & Performance Monitoring
• Monitor and analyze equipment condition trends (temperatures, vibrations, pressures, current draw, etc.).
• Maintain and analyze downtime databases, focusing on unscheduled downtime reduction.
• Generate and present reliability dashboards, performance KPIs, and downtime Pareto analyses.
• Review CMMS data and work order history to identify reliability issues requiring RCFA or redesign.
4) Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) & Continuous Improvement
• Lead and facilitate RCFA teams, driving systematic investigation of equipment failures.
• Review modification and design changes to ensure reliability is incorporated.
• Develop engineering solutions to repetitive failures affecting capacity, quality, cost, or compliance.
• Track improvement project status and ensure timely implementation of recommended actions.
• Perform life cycle cost analysis, repair/replace decision-making, and value analysis for improvements.
5) New Projects & Asset Lifecycle Management
• Work closely with Project Engineering to ensure reliability and maintainability of new or modified installations.
• Support LCAM (Life Cycle Asset Management) requirements throughout asset life cycles.
• Participate in factory and site acceptance testing (FAT/SAT) to confirm compliance with functional and reliability specifications.
• Update CMMS with new equipment data and associated maintenance strategies.
6) Supplier & Contractor Reliability Management
• Evaluate and audit equipment suppliers, technical service providers, and MRO vendors based on reliability performance.
• Support development of performance criteria and acceptance testing requirements.
• Review and assess service provider compliance with reliability standards.
7) Collaboration, Culture & Training
• Work closely with Maintenance and Operations teams to drive a reliability-focused culture.
• Educate employees on reliability engineering principles and local reliability processes.
• Mentor junior engineers and support internal capability development.
• Participate actively in weekly Asset Management/Scheduling meetings.
• Communicate key asset performance indicators and reliability insights to stakeholders.
8) Safety, Compliance & Reporting
• Ensure all reliability-related work complies with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
• Produce required asset management performance reports for management review.
• Promote safe work practices in all maintenance and improvement activities.
