Orbital Kitchens is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant based in Vietnam to own month-end close and reliable reporting across multiple entities. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will resolve complex accounting issues, explain financial results, and improve accounting processes and controls.
You will have hands-on ownership of the books, work with operations and external advisors, and help develop junior accountants. Success means well-supported balances, timely reporting, and clear communication when issues need attention.
Level: Senior
Employment: Full-time, 40 hours/week
Salary: US$1,200/per month
Reports to: Head of Finance
Start date: As soon as possible; training begins one week prior
Working location: Remote from Vietnam
Working hours
Monday-Friday, 8 AM-5 PM Eastern Time (New York). This is an overnight schedule in Vietnam:
7 PM-4 AM the next day during U.S. daylight saving time; 8 PM-5 AM the next day during U.S. standard time.
The final shift of the week ends Saturday morning in Vietnam. Occasional weekend work may be required; overtime is paid.
Please apply only if you can consistently work this schedule.
Key responsibilities
Own month-end and year-end close, including the close checklist, adjusting journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and supporting schedules.
Maintain accurate ledgers across multiple entities; reconcile intercompany balances and prepare consolidation schedules and elimination entries.
Prepare and review bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations; investigate differences and resolve outstanding items with clear supporting evidence.
Prepare monthly and annual financial statements and weekly management reports; explain significant movements, risks, and required actions.
Drive budgeting and forecasting with the Head of Finance; explain actual results against budget and identify the underlying business drivers.
Improve accounting workflows, internal controls, and documentation; identify recurring errors and reduce manual work while maintaining review checks.
Partner with operations to resolve source-data issues and maintain financial accuracy; prepare schedules for external accountants, auditors, and tax advisors.
Review junior accountants' work, provide practical feedback, and support additional accounting and finance projects as needed.
Qualifications and experience
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; 5+ years of accounting experience, including independent ownership of close and reporting.
Strong accrual accounting skills and practical U.S. GAAP knowledge for routine close and reporting; sound judgment about when to seek technical guidance.
Experience with multiple entities, intercompany reconciliations, and consolidation schedules; ability to trace reported balances to source records.
Strong Excel skills: reconcile large datasets and build reviewable schedules using pivot tables, lookup functions, SUMIFS, and error checks.
Professional English: explain accounting issues in live discussions, write clear variance commentary, and ask precise questions when information is incomplete.
Proficiency with an ERP or accounting system, including journal entries, ledger review, reporting, and reconciliation of system data.
Ability to investigate discrepancies, manage deadlines independently, and communicate progress and risks in a remote team.
Preferred
Experience supporting U.S. or Canadian companies; CPA, ACCA, or an equivalent professional qualification.
Familiarity with Odoo, Ramp, Sequoia, Gusto, or similar tools, and experience reviewing or mentoring junior accounting staff.
Benefits
Fully remote work from Vietnam, with exposure to U.S. accounting and business operations.
Opportunity to grow within an expanding company.
Performance-based annual bonus and paid time off (PTO).
Annual salary increase of 5%-10% based on performance and company results.
