The School Is Currently Looking To Recruit An
ENGLISH (WITH DRAMA) TEACHER
BIS HCMC requires an English teacher for August 2027 onward. The role will include the teaching of KS3, CIE IGCSE First Language English and English Literature, and IBDP English Language and Literature and likely Drama teaching at Key Stage 3. Teaching experience to Key Stage 5, especially experience of the IBDP, is highly desirable.
The English Department's mission statement is: To promote a lifelong love of reading, to inspire creativity and imagination, and to develop students as critical readers and thinkers. At every level we encourage keen participation in lessons and we have high expectations of all students. Each teacher in the department is committed to creating a safe and welcoming environment where the art of communication through reading, writing, and speaking is developed.
We understand our role in fulfilling every student's academic potential but we also care about nurturing a positive experience where involvement in a variety of activities is the norm, including spoken presentations, reading programmes, and creative writing competitions.
We see the disciplines of language and literature as being deeply connected with, and fundamental to, an understanding of what makes us human. To this end, we seek to share with our students a narrative of the ways in which language and literature have been intertwined with our human story, and to invite our students to become the readers, writers, speakers and listeners of our global community's future chapters.
The Drama Department at BIS is thriving and collaboration amongst students and staff is key to the excellent success of the department. KS3 Drama is contemporary, creative and allows for all students to access the work in a thoughtful manner. KS3 students are also working with the Juilliard Creative Classroom; an exciting collaboration that allows exploration of world theatre genres.
KS4 students take the CIE IGCSE, whilst KS5 take IBDP Theatre at either Standard or Higher Level. Co-Curricular clubs and productions are a key part of the Drama calendar and all Drama teachers are involved in the myriad productions each year. These include the IBDP Studio performance, KS3 production, School Musical, Literature Show and Staff Pantomime as well as contributions to other whole school events such as BIS Night of the Arts, International day, Tet Celebrations and our Week Without Walls.

Our 2026 cohort of 130 IBDP graduates achieved an average score of 36.7 points, significantly higher than the global average of 30.9 points, with 28% of our students achieving 40 points or more and 2 students achieving a perfect score of 45. Our students are equally successful at IGCSE. Our 2025 cohort of 128 students achieved 69% of grades at A*/A with 97% of our students achieving A* - C in 5 or more subjects and 39 students achieving A*/A grades across all their subjects.
Beyond academics, we have an exceptional enrichment programme with over 100 Co-Curricular activities and expeditions both in Vietnam and globally that help our students overcome challenges, build confidence, create lifelong memories and change to the communities around them.
