Mô tả công việc
GENERAL RESPONSIBLITIES
- To be available for consultation with parents and staff with regard to any student about whom there may be concerns;
- Provide assessment, counselling and consultancy to individual students and/or their parents.
- Provide appropriate feedback and follow-up to students' parents, teachers, pastoral and support staff
- Assist School staff to identify and address students' specific needs;
- To offer direct counselling to individuals or small groups of students, who may be experiencing difficulties in their studies or within social and personal aspects of their lives. Some areas might include:
+ serious family problems e.g. bereavement, family breakdown;
+ social problems e.g. relationship with peers, truancy, drugs and alcohol misuse
+ emotional problems and health problems, eg. Anxiety, eating disorders, depression, stress
+ behavioural problems
- Facilitate group seminars and programs for students and parents on issues concerned with emotional and social health;
- Conduct or facilitate educational psychological assessment programs for individuals or groups, as required;
- Guide families in referrals to external professionals, when required. Follow up such referrals to assist parents and students and to provide feedback to relevant staff
- Maintain confidential case files for all students obtaining counselling;
- Be willing and able to teach Personal, Social and Health Educational programmes;
- Provide advice on key child protection matters;
- Act as case manager for students assessed as having a higher than average risk, if necessary;
- To work in conjunction with the Heads of Section to meet the needs of a particular form or year group eg: Stress Management for examinees, group friendship issues;
- To assist with the development of the relevant policies on Wellbeing or Crisis Management, as required and to assess the suitability of a Critical Incident Policy.
- To develop community partnerships;
- To develop whole school programs as the need arises e.g. managing issues of depression, anxiety and stress; bullying and harassment, building skills of resilience or other issues.
- Assist with the successful transition of students between Primary and Secondary
- Participate in parent teacher events, information sessions etc
- Co-ordinating with the University Guidance Counsellor on student applications for Special Admission into University
- Administration as required including maintaining accurate files.
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
- Participate fully in the school's Performance Management procedures and appraisal, including objective setting
- Continual development through the identification and implementation of your own Personal Development Plan, leading to improved performance
- Participate in learning walks, observations and coaching, as appropriate.

Yêu cầu
Essential
- Bachelor's degree in in Psychology
- Vietnamese;
- A genuine pastoral concern for young people;
- Good working knowledge of the development (physiological, psychological and emotional) of young people and adolescents;
- Excellent intra- and inter- personal skills;
- Excellent communication skills in English and Vietnamese.
- Ability to prioritise workloads;
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Sound judgment and collaborative understanding
- Experience of working with adolescents
Highly Desirable
- Training in middle or senior management.
- Willingness and proven ability to make links with parents and teacher groups;
- Experience of involvement in one or more of: strategic planning; monitoring; concise and accurate writing skills;
- Range of emotional intelligence and experience that builds trust with students and parents, as required.
Qualities specific to a dual-language school
- Have an affinity for working with non-native speakers of English.
- Have a genuine interest in understanding cultural diversity.
- Be open to ideas for continued professional learning and development.
- Relish the prospect of collegial planning and working with Vietnamese colleagues.
- Be energetic and prepared to go that extra mile in shaping a new counselling service within the school.
