Senior DevOps Engineer - Azure

You don't just want to operate infrastructure - you want to build the delivery platform that enables engineering teams to ship software reliably, repeatedly, and with confidence. As a DevOps Engineer, you will help modernize and automate the delivery processes behind one of the largest ERP systems in the German-speaking e-commerce market.
We are looking for two engineers to take the next steps of our cloud transformation with us. Your job is to build and run the platform behind this reliably, automatically, and with full operational ownership.
Our engineers use tools like GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, ChatGPT, and similar AI assistants every day. We expect you to either bring hands-on experience with these tools or demonstrate a clear, verifiable willingness to actively use them.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
You drive the step-by-step migration of our ERP from a single virtual-machine setup towards containerized workloads on Linux and Docker.
You design, implement, and maintain agent-based deployment for both virtual machines and - increasingly - containers, making sure they are provisioned, deployed, and updated reliably.
You provision and operate virtual machines, containers, deployment targets, and delivery infrastructure in Azure.
You ensure the cloud onboarding wizard (React) and the surrounding cloud services run reliably so that customers can work without interruption.
You instrument the platform with telemetry, monitoring, and observability so that issues are detected early and operations stay transparent.
You design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automate build, packaging, testing, and deployment processes.
You support the migration of existing build and release processes towards GitHub Actions and modern delivery workflows.
You manage and evolve self-hosted runners and build infrastructure.
You collaborate with Quality Engineering to integrate automated tests into delivery pipelines.
You work with Release Management to improve release reliability, transparency, and automation.
You identify bottlenecks in the software delivery process and continuously improve developer productivity.• You help establish the technical foundation for future Continuous Delivery and Continuous Deployment scenarios.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING WITH YOU
Experience with CI/CD systems such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, TeamCity, Jenkins, CircleCI, GitLab CI, or. comparable platforms.
5+ years of experience working as a DevOps Engineer
Experience with Terraform, Helm and Kubernetes is mandatory, bringing experience with GitOps Platforms like Argo is a plus.
Experience with deployment automation and release pipelines.
Good understanding of Azure infrastructure and cloud-based delivery environments.
Experience with Docker and container-based deployment concepts.
Experience with scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar).
Understanding of modern software development processes and the needs of development teams.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Hands-on experience with AI-assisted engineering tools or a clear willingness to adopt them.
Willingness to take part in an on-call rotation and to take responsibility for operational availability - being reachable and responding within a defined reaction time when issues arise, including on weekends (this is about reaction time and ownership, not fixed shift work).
Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
IDEAL PROFILE
The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with C#/.NET and React, is confident with PowerShell, and genuinely enjoys being part of a transformation - shaping and building the platform rather than just keeping it running.
