Primary Function: Scenario generation for MEP systems using Podium, design validation , and product feedback.
Key Responsibilities:
- Use Podium to generate MEP systems
- Work with the customers (possibly via Lead Architect ) to understand requirements for building MEP design, and ensure objectives are achieved
- Sanity check on Podium's automated MEP outputs against building codes and engineering principles using professional judgment.
- Verify that equipment selection, sizing, and routing are reasonable and compliant against typical building codes across all disciplines - high level verification.
- Identify any issues or edge cases where the tool's logic may be incorrect or incomplete.
- Document and communicate issues to the product team with specific requirements for tool improvements.
- Collaborate with Structural Engineer to ensure coordinated design.
Yêu cầu
Must-have Skills:
- Expertise in comprehensive MEP design (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire systems).
- Experience with BIM/Revit and familiarity with parametric design concepts.
- Ability to read and interpret MEPF analysis results and equipment specifications.
- Knowledge of some of the MEP codes and regulations across the MEP disciplines - We don't expect folks to know all the codes regionally but their ability to grasp, adaptability to work with prospect / clients in different regions, discover, learn, build and sharing it is something will help.
- Strong communication skills (written as minimum) to articulate product feedback clearly.
Computational Awareness:
- Critical: Must understand how generative/parametric algorithms work for MEP systems (e.g., how the tool routes pipes/cables, selects equipment, calculates loads). This is NOT about scripting - it's about understanding the logic and being able to identify when outputs don't make sense. Same level of computational awareness as Structural Engineer.
- Development experience of plug-ins, algos, is not required but having working knowledge of how they function, what goes into it, etc is required.
DON'T Do:
- Do not recreate MEP calculations manually to verify the tool.
- Do not need to know all the building regulations in target country.
- Do not use Grasshopper, Dynamo, or other parametric tools.
- Do not do software development or plugin creation.
