Senior Production Planner

Senior Production Planner is responsible for translating demand forecasts into executable production plans, ensuring material availability, capacity alignment, and on-time delivery. This role is in charged for the Master Production Schedule (MPS) and material planning by project, working closely with cross-functional teams to optimize production and meet customer commitments.
The role ensures timely availability of raw materials, components, and subassemblies to support efficient operations. It also supports product lifecycle activities, including NPI, ramp-up, and phase-out, managing output, delivery, inventory, and issue escalation while driving continuous improvement.
As a key interface between Sales/Marketing, Operations, and Supply Chain, the Senior Production Planner balances customer demand with inventory and cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Production Planning:
- Prepare master production scheduling for finished products based on S&OP and customer demand validated by production capacity.
- Work with IE and production to ensure that all resources are properly allocated and assigned to achieve OTD target and improve customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality team to resolve any quality incompliance and/or production on-hold issues.
- Track and solve planning and inventory issues associated with ECO/MCO implications.
2. Material Planning:
- Coordinate with global procurement teams to confirm the materials supply plan from suppliers and sub-contractors to ensure the timely fulfillment of orders for raw material and sub-assemblies.
- Propose and validate PR request for material procurement with solid analysis of the re-order point and safety stock plan and review critical materials with purchase team for reschedule in/out.
- Monitor material receipts as request, work with team to resolve the incoming discrepancies and reschedule the open PO in accordance with the demand changes.
- Coordinate with Program manager on the timely fulfillment of all NPI project related raw materials and sub-assembly requirements, provide material planning report with weekly/bi-weekly Material/build Status.
- Support engineering and supply chain on 2nd source qualification, localization, and other cost reduction activities that ensure continuous supply.
3. Inventory Management:
- Setup quarterly/monthly inventory target projection (value and turns) by BU and project, including raw materials, WIP, semi-FG and FG.
- Conduct month-end inventory simulation and drive team to carry out inventory reduction activities to achieve the target.
- Deliver clear-to-build status, material coverage, run-out reports and other analyses as needed. Provide data-driven decision support to the broader organization through what-if and scenario planning.
- Review the aging inventory along with project lifecycle and work with cross-functional team to minimize obsolete inventory and dispose with lower E&O cost.
4. Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Act as the primary interface with sales & marketing, engineering, operation and supply chain on delivery status, issues and resolution. Escalate to commercial or technical partners and leadership when required.
- Coordinate with Wuxi (China) and Ipoh/Penang (Malaysia) teams on project transfers, new production setup, and material transfers to ensure smooth execution and minimal disruption to supply.
- Quick response to customer demand, escalation within 24hrs.
- Maintain planning system parameters and master data to optimally reflect supply chain capabilities and plan supply.
- Review MRP actions, exception signals, validate and execute the appropriate actions.
- Partner with IT and other business stakeholders on planning process and system improvements.
- Report on projects status and make recommendations to upper Management.
- Support special projects as required.
