About this position
The Senior Sales Engineer is responsible for driving the commercial growth of APP's metal packaging product portfolio, including can sealants, surface treatment products, cleaners, conversion coatings, lubricants, and related process solutions within the metal packaging manufacturing industry, primarily in Vietnam (Hanoi / Bac Ninh).
This role combines technical expertise, hands-on customer engagement, relationship management, and strategic market development to expand market share and strengthen long-term partnerships with can manufacturers, OEMs, and key industry stakeholders.

• Southeast Asia is experiencing rapid growth in metal packaging production, driven by significant investments from Chinese can manufacturers expanding into Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand.
• The Senior
Technical Sales Engineer must understand the business practices, decision-making processes, and operational requirements of Chinese manufacturers establishing operations in the region, while effectively engaging multinational customers operating across Southeast Asia.
• Proficiency in Mandarin and English is essential to communicate effectively with customer headquarters, engineering teams, procurement functions, and project stakeholders across the region.
• The role requires proactive engagement with new market entrants, tracking expansion projects, and positioning the company's metal packaging solutions early in the customer lifecycle, including plant setup, line commissioning, product qualification, and production ramp-up phases.
• The role requires hands-on application support, process optimization, and troubleshooting of sealant and surface treatment products used in aluminium and steel can manufacturing operations.
What you'll do
1.
Business Development & Growth
• Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities with metal packaging manufacturers of the assigned territory/customers and related supply chain partner
• Develop and execute country specific growth plans for the assign customers
• Drive product trials, line qualifications, and conversions to capture the opportunity and business maintenance by providing technical service and commercial solutions.
• Monitor competitor activity and market trends to refine strategy and positioning.
2. Account Management
• Manage and grow key accounts through regular visits, performance reviews, and proactive support.
• Build strong relationships with all plant stakeholders i.e General Manager, plant managers, production teams, procurement, and technical decision makers.
• Ensure customer satisfaction through timely communication, issue resolution, and value-added service.
3. Technical & Process Support
• Work closely with technical service teams to support product trials, troubleshooting, and optimization of can making processes (washer lines, pretreatment, lubrication, etc.).
• Translate customer needs into actionable product or service solutions.
• Provide on-site troubleshooting and process audits and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost savings.
4. Forecasting & Reporting
• Prepare accurate sales forecasts, pipeline updates, and market intelligence reports.
• Track performance against targets and propose corrective actions when needed.
• Maintain CRM records and ensure data accuracy.
5. Cross Functional Collaboration
• Coordinate with R&D, supply chain, marketing, and regional leadership to deliver seamless customer experience.
• Support regional product launches, trial, seminars, and customer training sessions.
