Supplier Quality Engineer

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for ensuring that suppliers consistently provide materials, components, and services that meet company quality, regulatory, and customer requirements. The SQE acts as the primary quality interface between the company and suppliers, driving supplier development, quality improvement, risk reduction, and continuous improvement activities to support manufacturing excellence and customer satisfaction.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Monitor and manage supplier quality performance through established KPIs.
Drive improvement initiatives to reduce supplier defects, variation, and quality-related risks.
Conduct regular supplier performance reviews and quality business reviews.
2. Evaluate and qualify new suppliers according to company procedures.
Review supplier quality systems, manufacturing processes, and quality controls.
Support sourcing and procurement teams in supplier selection activities.
Approve suppliers for new product introductions and critical components.
3. Plan and conduct : Process Audits, System Audits, Product Audits
4. Establish incoming inspection requirements and control plans.
Review material specifications, drawings, and quality standards.
Support Incoming Quality Control (IQC) activities.
Analyze incoming defect trends and identify improvement opportunities.
Ensure incoming materials conform to quality and reliability requirements.
5. Lead investigations of supplier-related quality issues.
Utilize quality tools including: 8D, 5 Why, Fishborn, SPC, FMEA, Six Sigma.
6. Participate in NPI and product transfer projects.
Review supplier readiness for new products and process changes.
7. Evaluate supplier process changes and engineering changes.
Assess potential quality and manufacturing risks.
Ensure proper validation and qualification activities are completed before implementation.
8. Clearly understand self's and section's goals to make contribution to obtain quality and delivery goals.
Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
