About the role
- In this role, you will join our Firmware/Software Development team and gain valuable hands-on experience across all aspects of server-class firmware and software development. covering design, implementation, verificaiton, and debugging robust and innovative firmware for Ampere's SoC products.
- You will collaborate closely with experienced software development engineers, contributing to breakthrough solutions that advance cloud and AI computing technology. This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic, innovation-driven environment focused on delivering world-class products.
What you'll achieve
- Develop and implement protocols and interfaces for communications between System Control Firmware and various other subsystems and system-wide components.
- Bring up and verify System Control Processor firmware across virtual platforms, emulation systems, and final hardware
- Drive complex issues from initial investigation through root cause, corrective action, verification, and release
- Deliver high-quality, sustainable code and documentation that can be reused across future products.
- Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve issues across multiple subsystems, including firmware, software and operating systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive timely resolution of complex Firmware/Software bugs.
- Provide support for multiple platforms and projects, serving both internal teams and external customers.
About you
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 or more years of relevant experience in firmware, embedded software, platform security, or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience in either Firmware, Device Driver, Real Time OS (RTOS), or Linux software development is a plus.
- Experience with 32-bit and 64-bit ARM® architecture, including ARM® server platforms and system boot flows is highly desirable
- Experience with ARM® firmware programming, bootloader, bring-up, boot sequences, system initialization, and multi-threaded programming.
- Knowledge of embedded hardware interfaces and protocols such as UART, I2C, SMBus, I3C, SPI, Ethernet, etc.
- Experience using JTAG and debugging tools such as TRACE32 or OpenOCD.
- Experience with Kconfig, Device Tree, CMake, or comparable firmware build and configuration systems.
- Experience with source-control and development infrastructure, including Git, Jira, or equivalent tools.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle practices, Agile methodologies, code review, continuous integration, and release management.
- Track record of writing secure, sustainable/maintainable, and testable production-quality code.
- Demonstrated experience driving features from requirements and architecture through implementation, integration, verification, and production release.
- Ability to operate independently, manage competing priorities, and make sound technical decisions in a complex, cross-functional environment.
- Demonstrated technical leadership, including the ability to influence architecture, resolve ambiguity, mentor engineers, and drive execution without direct authority.
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
