BASIC SALARY: US $16,364.00/year
ALLOWANCE AND BENEFITS: Tet bonus, annual salary increase, leave benefits, health benefits, local social security program, miscellaneous benefits allowance and other allowances.
BASIC FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION
The incumbent serves as translator and interpreter for the Defense POW /MJA Accounting Agency -Detachment Two (DP AA Det2), Hanoi, Vietnam. DPAA is the U.S. Government agency responsible for conducting in-country research, analysis, and investigations that will assist in recovery operations in order to determine the fate of Americans missing from the Vietnam Conflict. incumbent is responsible for being the direct liaison with the Vietnam Office for Seeking Missing Persons (VNOSMP) in arranging a variety of protocol related matters to include the coordination of meetings and site visits for DPAA personnel, U.S. officials and visitors with members of the government and other officials in Vietnam, supporting Det2 and VNOSMP leadership in planning, preparing, and implementing MIA missions in Vietnam. The incumbent will also serve as the translator and interpreter for DPAA Det2 and assist with various administrative tasks to include visa processing for DPAA teams, military aircraft overflight and landing requests, transportation, and hotel/airline coordination in support of the DPAA mission in Vietnam.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelors or equivalent degree in English language, Linguistics, Interpretation and Translation, International Relations, Journalism, or local equivalent is required.
Experience: Three years' experience in a government, business, or academic setting with interpretation and/or translation responsibilities is required.
Languages:
Fluent in Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required. (This will be tested.)
Fluent in Speaking/Reading/Writing Vietnamese is required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Good secretarial/administrative skills; Computer Skills: Word, Windows, Power Point, Excel.
• The job holder must be able to coordinate meetings, schedules and travel with various Vietnamese government offices and officials. The incumbent should be able to make logical decisions on changes to itinerary due to contingencies and amendments to site visit schedules. These changes frequently happen last minute and need to be addressed timely and appropriately. Must be able to recognize and de-conflict events and meetings.
• The job holder must ensure that all translations from Vietnamese to English and vice versa of documents, memorandums are clear and concise with minimal errors. The incumbent must be able to interpret in a clear and concise manner between Vietnamese and English and vice versa with minimal errors. (This might be tested during the interview).
• Must possess good interpersonal skills to deal tactfully with high-level contacts. Must be a self-starter, work with minimal supervision and have strong organizational skills. Must be able to do research and analysis in order to be familiar with new terms used in translation.
