Aircraft Sheet Metal Design & Assembly Consultant

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Aircraft Sheet Metal Design & Assembly Consultant to provide technical expertise in aircraft sheet metal structure design and support the interface between design, manufacturing and aircraft assembly.
The consultant will help establish practical design methods, improve manufacturability and support the successful assembly of aircraft structures.
Key Responsibilities
Review and provide guidance on aircraft sheet metal structural design.
Develop practical design guidelines for materials, thickness, bends, joints, fasteners and tolerances.
Ensure designs are suitable for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA).
Work with manufacturing teams and suppliers to resolve design and fabrication issues.
Review manufacturing feedback, deviations and proposed design changes.
Support aircraft structural assembly, including assembly sequence, fit-up, joining and tooling requirements.
Provide technical support during prototype/build activities.
Coach engineers and transfer practical knowledge in sheet metal design and assembly.
Requirements
15 years of experience in aircraft/aerospace engineering.
Strong experience in aircraft sheet metal structure design.
Practical understanding of sheet metal manufacturing and structural assembly.
Knowledge of aluminium aircraft structures, forming, bending, riveting, fastening and tolerances.
Experience working with aircraft manufacturers, aerostructure companies or aerospace suppliers.
Experience with helicopter or military aircraft is highly desirable.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Good English proficiency.
