Architectural Designer

Role
The primary function of the Architectural Designer role is to produce high quality projects and design deliverables.
The Architectural Designer will work on any / all phases of project development including Concept and Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents and Construction Administration.
This person will report to both the Design Director and Design Lead on assigned tasks and responsibilities, ensuring production, coordination, and facilitation of a project's completion on time, on budget and meeting enCity's quality standards.
Job Description
I. Design
• To develop architectural design on projects, working with the Design Director, Design Lead and teams for all project phases, including conceptual design, presentations, schematic design, design development, construction documents and production;
• To work closely both with Design Director and Design Lead, producing architectural solutions from conceptual level through construction documentation;
• To prepare design, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, working drawings, detailing and technical specifications;
• To attend, document and report project meetings with external clients and internal team;
• To develop conceptual, schematic and design development framework for site planning, building systems, cores, floor plans and all necessary documentation in a team-based studio setting;
• To adapt and modify design solutions and operational methods under the supervision of senior-level architect / designer to meet project requirements and specifications;
• To assure conformity with applicable codes and standards, company policies and procedures;
• To interface and coordinate solutions with other teams including construction, subcontracts, QA;
• To develop 3D modeling studies in Sketch Up or other formats that accurately and clearly depict the architectural design intents;
• To prepare and coordinate architectural reports and progress narratives;
• To direct, compatibilize and coordinate the assembly of documentation into a presentation format utilizing Adobe Photoshop, Power Point and/or other digital formats.
II. Production
• To ensure quality and efficiency for assigned projects, tasks and deliverables;
• To actively work on high-level tasks and deliverables for multiple projects simultaneously;
• To perform revisions, markups and pickups of delegated work and complete deliverable packages;
• To verify that applicable normative and building codes are satisfactorily addressed;
• To coordinate and produce the necessary documentation in all project stages;
• To maintain a weekly task list for assigned projects discussing time allotments, schedules, and task delegations;
• To assist the Design Director and / or Design Lead on monitoring and documenting project;
• To prepare regular project team meetings pertaining to project tasks, deliverables and milestones;
• To communicate directly with clients, authorities, subcontractors and / or other parties.
• To elaborate clear minutes, articulate meetings, and communications notes.
• To efficiently manage the production teams involved in architectural design.
III. Management
• To accept responsibility and accountability;
• To hold the team and individuals accountable to deliver upon commitment;
• To follow through on the project goals, overcoming challenges and obstacles;
• To manage production resources effectively, communicating any deviation to the Design Director and Design Lead;
• To assist in producing initial and revised scope proposals;
• To demonstrate highly organized and systematic approach to project development and production, keeping team and tasks list updated and complete;
• To demonstrate a high degree of time management skill, streamlining processes and procedures to increase quality and efficiency;
• To regularly review sets project deliverables for accuracy, efficiency, and compliance;
• To report regularly to the Design Director and Design Leads.
