These range from localized technical problems threatening business processes to region-wide disasters threatening life safety. Chubb's Global Safety, Security, and Business Continuity (GSSBCM) has critical areas driven by a Duty of Care to protect our people, property, reputation, and brand. GSSBCM acts as a shared service to support Chubb Business Units and Corporate functions - as an integrator that can assist with reducing risk, and enhancing resilience, through deliberate planning, progressively challenging exercises, and transparent policies and processes.
The AVP, Business Continuity Transformation Lead, COG/Life is a significant contributor to Chubb's overall readiness for, response to, and recovery from business interruptions. This position primarily focuses on designing and implementing global program enhancements and all operations outside North America. It will support aspects of Chubb North America as needed. This is a leadership role with one direct report. This colleague reports directly into the Global Head of the Business Continuity program. The ideal candidate will have 5-8 years of experience. This role can be based in Philadelphia, PA, Whitehouse Station, NJ or London, England. Domestic and international travel (20-30%) is required.
This position requires an experienced professional who provides industry-leading subject matter expertise in business continuity. The individual in this role is expected to work with minimal supervision while overseeing transformation of business continuity efforts for all regions outside of North America. The role will ensure that the program matures and enhances at a pace aligned with Global requirements. This person will lead projects to enhance enterprise-wide BC readiness and oversee and support their implementation in each region.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- In collaboration with the Vice President of Business Continuity, develop business continuity policy and strategies to mitigate all business continuity-related risks
- Oversees operational business continuity programs within LATAM, EMEA, APAC and drives planning and transformation of the program in partnership with the regional leads
- Work with program team members to ensure the regions receive support related to program requirements, including building and maturing of business impact analyses and business continuity plans, annual exercises, and implementation of the Resiliency Management System
- Identify, prioritize, and address internal and external business continuity risks, threats, and vulnerabilities across the spectrum ranging from outages to terrorism to natural hazards
- Constantly evaluate processes while seeking improvement and implementation of positive organizational change
- Drive aspects of requirement gathering and design/testing phase of Chubb's Global Resiliency Management System for business continuity
- Provide insight into the vision and direction for business continuity lifecycle planning, including business impact analysis, regulatory alignment, risk assessment, recovery planning, and testing. Ensures vision and direction align with enterprise-wide strategy and drive corporate program transformation
- Engrain business continuity as part of enterprise-wide planning, governance, controls, and risk assessment. This includes enhancing existing engagement and establishing the same for new initiatives, including new business, technology implementations, business process transformation, and partner programmatic rollouts
- Provide support and expertise during live response events
- Work closely with the BC Program Manager and global team on programmatic documentation, updates, and standardization to include metrics, policies, standards, and standard operating procedures
- Partner with the VP of Global Business Continuity and the Program Manager to establish partnerships across ERM and Compliance to monitor, identify, and assess regulatory requirements of the business continuity program. Support and drive alignment to requirements
- Manage both direct and indirect individual contributors within the Corporate BC team
- Track, manage, and close issues identified by reviews, audits, incidents, and exercises
- Support Regional Leads in their leadership of business continuity initiatives, including site selection, strategy development, completing supplier and regulator inquiries and surveys, reviewing partner BC arrangements, and conducting meetings with brokers, customers, insurers, and other third parties
- Provide input into weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
- Provide written and verbal feedback about program effectiveness, including ideas for program improvements
- Continue to develop as a Business Continuity professional
- Other duties as assigned
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Regular interaction with multiple geographic regions is required. Meetings would be expected to accommodate various time zones
- Knowledge and experience in business continuity planning, training, and exercising commensurate with 5-8 years of experience
- Demonstrated ability to manage stakeholders at all levels of a highly matrixed organization
- Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills
- Strong leadership skills and a productive team player with a proven track record
- Strong verbal / written communication. Must be able to interface and coordinate efficiently and effectively with business partners and all levels of leadership across the global organization
- Strong administrative skills, with effectiveness in developing tasks and managing resources to achieve target dates
- Strong interpersonal skills and articulation skills are required to communicate solutions to management
- Skilled at working with senior management in the development of strategic as well as tactical plans to mature the BCP culture within the corporation
- Strong proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Teams); SharePoint; Microsoft Outlook; Web-based communications tools; and internet-based research
- Prior program and global leadership experience preferred
- Professional Designation - Certified Business Continuity Professional (or equivalent certifications or work experience preferred)
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
