Backend Technical Lead - Python/Django AWS

We are looking for a hands-on Backend Technical Lead to help build and scale enterprise-grade applications that power critical business operations. You will work closely with product managers, business stakeholders, and engineers across the organization to deliver high-quality software solutions from concept to production.

Location: Ho Chi Minh City, hybrid working.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, design, and development of scalable backend services and APIs using Python and Django.
• Translate business requirements into practical technical designs, delivery plans, and production-ready solutions.
• Make architectural decisions with careful consideration of scalability, security, performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• Establish engineering standards for code quality, testing, observability, documentation, deployment, and operational readiness.
• Lead code and design reviews while mentoring backend engineers and supporting their technical development.
• Identify technical risks, dependencies, and trade-offs, and communicate them clearly to both technical and business stakeholders.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, data, and business teams to deliver products end-to-end.
• Promote the effective and responsible use of AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity and software quality.

• 10+ years of professional backend development experience, including strong hands-on expertise in Python and Django (or similar).
• Previous experience as a Technical Lead, Lead Engineer, or Senior Engineer with significant technical ownership.
• Proven experience designing and delivering scalable, production-grade enterprise applications.
• Strong knowledge of backend architecture, API design, distributed systems, asynchronous processing, and cloud-native development.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services, particularly SNS, SQS, API Gateway, Step Functions, and S3.
• Strong understanding of relational databases, data modelling, performance optimisation, and data integrity.
• Experience using AI-powered development tools such as Claude Code or similar AI engineering assistants.
• Strong English communication skills, with the ability to explain technical decisions and trade-offs to different audiences.
• Ability to remain hands-on while guiding and supporting other engineers in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
