About the Role
The Chief Accountant will lead and develop the Finance & Accounting team, providing strategic budgetary, financial, and accountancy support to the BOD. This role is responsible for overseeing all corporate accounting activities, optimizing internal systems, and ensuring strict fiscal compliance to drive operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
1. Team Leadership & Department Management:
- Oversee all matters related to the company's finance and accounting operations.
- Structure the department, assign duties, and establish clear KPIs for each position to ensure optimal and effective team performance.
- Mentor and support the
Finance Manager in building financial policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
2. Financial Control & System Management:
- Maintain absolute control over the accounting system; regularly review, reclassify, and correct data to ensure precision.
- Review daily financial transactions, purchase orders, and expenditures against budget limits.
- Proactively propose and implement software/ERP enhancements to streamline accounting workflows and improve work efficiency.
3. Compliance, Tax & Bookkeeping:
- Ensure the entire bookkeeping system strictly complies with Vietnamese Accounting Standards (VAS), local tax regulations, and internal corporate policies.
- Take hands-on responsibility for all statutory requirements, including statutory audits, Corporate Income Tax (CIT), Value Added Tax (VAT), Personal Income Tax (PIT) and regulatory statistics reporting.
4. Cost, Budgeting & Cash Flow Management:
- Monitor, analyze, and forecast cash flow requirements to optimize corporate liquidity.
- Control operating costs, capital expenditures and annual budgeting; oversee inventory control and ensure accounting documents are systematically stored per regulations.
5. Reporting & Period-End Closing:
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, including bank reconciliations, allocation of prepaid expenses, and financial reconciliations.
- Prepare and submit accurate, timely monthly/quarterly/annual financial & management reports to the Finance Manager and BOD.
- Execute other ad-hoc financial assignments as requested by the Finance Manager or BOD.

Job requirements
Education & Certification:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Auditing, or a related field.
- Chief Accountant Certificate (valid and active) is mandatory.
Experience:
- University level - major in Finance/Accounting.
- Preferred have 10 year-experience in finance/Accounting. At least 3 - 5 years of experience as a Chief Accountant or
Accounting Manager specifically within the Retail, FMCG, Chain-store, or F&B industries.
Skills & Competencies:
- Systems: Deep understanding of software and systems (SAP, Fast, Dynamics 365, etc.).
- Languages: Fluent in English (both written and spoken) for executive reporting and corporate communication.
- Technical: Sharp analytical mind with a deep understanding of retail tax policies, promotion/discount accounting, and VAS.
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership, cross-departmental collaboration (working closely with Operations, Supply Chain, and Marketing), and crisis management.
- Mindset: Meticulous attention to detail, high integrity, and a proactive attitude toward fraud prevention.
