Design Manager

• Ensure all design teams (architecture/interior/mep/structure/landscape/f&e) are fully aware of their scope of work and manage the planning for the (weekly) Design Deliverables within the overall planning of each project.
• Guide the Team in developing the Architecture and Interior Concept designs into Construction drawings, details, specifications, schedules and sample boards, for inclusion in licensing applications, tender and construction documentation packages.
• Pro-actively coordinate with Contractors, Suppliers and Consultants, for architectural solutions and appropriate material selections whilst maintaining the design integrity of the Concept.
• Prepare and participate in all meetings and presentations related to the project as required.
• Together with the other DMs set up, implement and manage Design & CAD standards, libraries and procedures.
• Ensure all design disciplines as Structure, MEPF, Landscape and Operations are fully integrated within the Architecture and Interior Designs and drawing packages.
• Prepare Schedules and Specifications for the project and manage and maintain such Schedules and Specifications, through the course of the project.
• Must have the ability to review programmes, technical details and specifications, and if necessary draft up details for construction and develop new specifications, in keeping with the design intent of the project.
• Should possess good organizational skills and able to produce programmes to assist the staff and also to report progress and deliverables to the Management, Tender & Costing teams for tracking purposes.
• Good Design Management skills are essential and the ability to contribute to the development of the Concept design in consultation with the Concept, Technical Services and Operational teams. Also to manage the coordination between the relevant disciplines to ensure a viable, fit for purpose and sound construction package.
• Guide, assist and review staff in developing their skills and necessary training. Set the KPIs for the staff and monitor the same for evaluation and recommendations.
• Work closely with the Design Director for the overall programme, schedule, budgets and quality. Maintain the micro management of the team, as well as retaining the bigger picture view point at all times.
• Ensure all final Tender and Construction documentation are complete, correct, comply with mandatory Codes and Standards and manage a smooth handover of design documentation to QS & Tender team.
• Ensure all RFIs from Consultants and Contractors, samples and shop drawings, are pro-actively answered and communicated with the Project Management and Site teams in a timely manner.
• Ensure the design is developed within the approved budget and notify Project Directors of any issues likely to lead to budget and schedule over-run, prior to occurring.
• Carry out full reviews of Contractor's and Supplier's shop drawings and comment on the same, including sign offs. Ensure shop drawings follow the design intent of the Concept.
