Design Manager

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Overall Design Leadership
Take overall responsibility for design management of Level 1 HOSPITALITY PROJECTS, including international 5-star hotels and resorts.
Ensure consistency and coordination across all design disciplines throughout the project lifecycle.
Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary technical teams assigned to projects to achieve project milestones.
2. Design Planning & Control
Develop design schedules, scopes of work, design budgets, and monitoring plans.
Ensure design progress aligns with the overall project schedule and approved budget.
Establish design briefs and technical requirements as the basis for design development and control.
3. Design Optimization
Review and optimize design solutions to improve functionality, construction efficiency, operational performance, and project cost-effectiveness.
Participate in design reviews and technical assessments throughout project development.
4. Coordination & Stakeholder Management
Serve as the primary focal point for all design-related communications with internal departments, including:
Project Management Unit (PMU)
Project Planning
Quantity Surveying (QS)
Procurement
Project Development
Coordinate effectively with external design consultants, contractors, and hotel operators.
5. Construction Design Support
Lead the resolution of design-related technical issues during construction.
Review and approve shop drawings.
Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs).
Conduct site supervision and author supervision to ensure construction complies with approved design documentation.
6. Consultant Management
Evaluate and select design consultants based on capability, project experience, proposed methodology, schedule, and commercial value.
Monitor consultant performance throughout project execution.
7. Innovation & Continuous Improvement
Research and implement new technologies, materials, and design trends to improve project quality and efficiency.
8. Reporting
Prepare regular project status reports and ad hoc reports for the Director of Design Control and senior management.
Perform other professional duties assigned by management.
REQUIREMENT
1. Education: Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or a related discipline.
2.Experience:
Minimum 10 years of experience in architectural design and design management.
Experience working for real estate developers or construction companies.
Experience collaborating with international 5-star hotel and resort operators.
Proven experience managing multidisciplinary design teams.
3. Technical Competencies
Design management and design quality control.
Construction supervision and technical coordination.
Project planning and scheduling.
Knowledge of emerging design trends and innovative building materials.
Proficiency in professional design software.
Strong understanding of hospitality design standards and aesthetics.
