Report line:
The Librarian reports to the International Programme Director, EMASI schools and works in close co-operation with the Principals of EMASI Nam Long and EMASI Van Phuc.
This role is designed as a two year consultancy with the associated expectation that the appointee will be involved in training library staff on both campuses.
Job overview:
EMASI Nam Long and EMASI Van Phuc will open in August 2019 in purpose-built facilities. Both schools will offer a bilingual programme which will combine the requirements of the Ministry of Education & Training (MOET) with an international programme component that focuses on English, Mathematics and Science.
The teacher librarian works under the direction of the International Programme Director to perform the daily routine operations of the library, monitor functional activities and work directly with students from 3 to 18 to grow and reinforce their literacy, information literacy and digital citizenship skills.
Main responsibilities:
• Assist in setting up the organizational system of the library, reading incentive programs and preparation of library forms, notices, letters and other correspondence;
• Ensure the physical appearance of the library as a clean, orderly, and attractive environment;
• Ensure that the organizational system of the library is maintained by overseeing library staff to correctly and independently return materials (both book and non-book) to the correct location and in proper shelf order;
• Assist teachers and students in researching, selecting, and locating appropriate print and non-print media for use in lessons and assignments;
• Support teachers and students in the proper use of online databases and other digital resources;
• Promote the proper operation, handling, and care of library equipment;
• Assist in training and supervising student or parent volunteers in the daily operation of the library;
• Work with small groups of students to discuss and/or reinforce instructional outcomes;
• Run and maintain statistical reports on usage;
• Run, prepare and distribute overdue notices routinely and maintains related obligation lists/records;
• Participate in workshops and in-service training when appropriate and approved by the International Programme Director.
• Review and source appropriate print and non-print materials for collection development purposes both independently and in consultation with other staff members.;
• Teach an appropriate number of classes across the range of Grade 1 to Grade 5.
• Plan co-operatively with faculty if and where applicable.
• Other tasks as assigned by the International Programme Director after due consultation.
Yêu cầu
Qualifications:
A recognised degree in teacher librarianship with a Masters preferred.
Experience:
A minimum of three years teaching experience with at least one-year-experience in a similar role in an international/bilingual school setting.
Knowledge:
