JOB PURPOSE
Lead GBIA's wildlife hazard management programme to minimise aviation risks, enhance operational safety and support compliance with international aviation standards.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
A. Wildlife hazard management Programme leadership
Develop, implement and continuously improve the Airport Wildlife Hazard Management Programme to minimise wildlife risks and ensure compliance with ICAO standards and regulatory requirements.
Establish policies, procedures, operational standards and technical guidance supporting effective wildlife hazard management.
Lead wildlife monitoring, surveillance and data collection programmes to identify emerging wildlife hazards and operational risks.
Direct habitat management, wildlife control and wildlife dispersal activities to maintain a safe operating environment.
Provide specialist advice to operational teams and airport development projects on wildlife hazard management and mitigation strategies.
B. Wildlife risk management, Compliance & Operational safety
Conduct wildlife hazard risk assessments covering birds, wildlife and environmental conditions affecting aircraft operations.
Monitor wildlife activity trends, analyse wildlife strike data and recommend mitigation measures to reduce operational risk.
Lead investigations into wildlife strikes and wildlife-related operational occurrences, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Maintain records, reports and regulatory documentation supporting aerodrome certification, audits and regulatory oversight.
Support safety assessments, occurrence investigations and Safety Management System (SMS) activities relating to wildlife hazards.
C. Stakeholder management & Continuous improvement
Coordinate with AOCC, Airfield Operations, ARFF, Airport Duty Managers and operational stakeholders to manage wildlife-related operational risks.
Develop effective working relationships with CAAV, Airport Authority, environmental agencies, veterinary authorities and specialist service providers.
Develop and deliver wildlife hazard awareness programmes, training initiatives and competency development for operational personnel.
Support ORAT programmes, emergency response activities and airport operational readiness relating to wildlife hazards.
Promote innovation, industry best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance wildlife hazard management and operational safety.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
A. Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Wildlife Biology, Zoology, Ecology, Natural Resource Management, Veterinary Science, Airport Operations or a related discipline.
Postgraduate qualifications in environmental management, ecology or aviation-related disciplines are preferred.
Strong academic foundation in wildlife hazard management, environmental management and ICAO aviation safety standards.
B. Work Experience
Minimum 8 years of experience in wildlife hazard management, airport operations or environmental management, preferably within an international airport environment.
Demonstrated experience in wildlife risk assessment, habitat management, wildlife hazard mitigation programmes and bird strike prevention.
Experience supporting aerodrome certification, regulatory compliance, operational safety management and wildlife-related occurrence investigations.
Strong knowledge of ICAO Annex 14, ICAO Doc 9137 Part 3, wildlife hazard management best practices and Safety Management System (SMS) principles.
Strong analytical, technical reporting, stakeholder management and training skills.
C. Certifications & Licences
ICAO, ACI or equivalent Wildlife Hazard Management certification.
Safety Management System (SMS) training certification.
Safety Risk Assessment or Operational Risk Management training is preferred.
Wildlife Hazard Management and wildlife-related incident investigation training is advantageous.
Airside Driving Permit (ADP).
