Save the Children International has an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as the Senior Humanitarian Advisor - Educationin Worldwide, any existing SCI location
ROLE PURPOSE:
The Senior Advisor for Education in Emergencies (EiE) will be a thought leader for Save the Children's Early Childhood Development and Basic Education in Emergencies (ECDiE) technical program. The EiE and ECDiE portfolio is comprised of awards from both USG and private donors, implemented in 15-20 countries, and includes thought leadership activities within Save the Children US (SCUS) and external EiE and ECDiE forums. The Senior Advisor will be the focal point for our State Department/BPRM account and will provide direct technical assistance and fundraising support to maintain and grow the SCUS-funded ECDiE and EiE project portfolio. Working alongside the SCUS Lead Advisor for Nexus Programs and the SCI One Humanitarian Team Head of Education, the Senior Advisor will maintain key relationships within Save the Children and will represent Save the Children US programs to key external audiences.
In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Recognized leadership in the education in emergencies sector and the ability to represent effectively organizational priorities and interests.
- Ability to travel up to 30% time.
- Experience working in development in emergency settings.
- Proven skills with proposal development for donors, including leadership of USAID technical design and writing processes.
- Demonstrated ability to work within a team setting from a technical, management, and interpersonal perspective.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including strong public speaking skills and experience.
- Ability to problem-solve, take decisions in a timely manner, multi-task, determine priorities, take initiative, and work independently;
- Commitment to building and supporting a diverse and inclusive technical team.
- Professional proficiency in MS Office suite
- Professional proficiency in spoken and written English
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals and teams at all levels, both internally and externally
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering and maintaining and environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
We can offer circa £50,000 per annum (If based in UK) with an option of flexible working hours. If the role is based outside of the UK, National T&C (including pay) will apply.
This role can be based in London or any existing Save the Children International office location on approval, provided the successful candidate has proof of eligibility to work from the preferred location.
