About Nexlab
Nexlab Technology is a software company of around 30 people based in Ho Chi Minh City, partnering with enterprise clients across healthcare, education, manufacturing, tourism, and commerce. What sets us apart is how we build: our entire development process runs on an AI-first foundation. Because of this, we especially value early-career engineers who are ready to approach the craft with a fresh mindset from day one.
About the Role As a Junior Mobile Engineer, you will own the mobile application layer of our enterprise client projects - including end-user apps, internal apps, and kiosks.
Most of the code here is generated by AI coding agents under your direction; your core mission is to define problems with precision and verify the results on real devices. This role is a great fit for early-career engineers with a strong drive to grow and an orientation toward output quality. We believe capability is proven through delivered results, not merely through years of experience.
I. How We Work - AI-First, AI-Driven
Our entire pipeline - from specification, design, and implementation to testing and release - runs on AI tooling under Spec-Driven Development, Nexlab's internal methodology. The specification is the single source of truth, AI coding agents build against it, and humans verify the output at fixed quality gates.
This model enables a single engineer to produce output that traditional workflows would require an entire team to deliver. For this junior role, we expect productivity to grow along 3 / 6 / 12-month milestones, with specific criteria discussed transparently from your onboarding session.
Because our products serve enterprise clients, every mistake carries a real cost.
That is why we hold firmly to one principle: AI proposes, humans decide. For mobile specifically, a faulty build costs more than on the web - it must pass store review, and users don't update instantly.
This is precisely why verification discipline is placed front and center in this role.At Nexlab, "junior" does not mean handling only secondary work. From the very start, you'll be given a clearly scoped part of an application and will own its quality - always with a dedicated mentor alongside you and mandatory reviews in place to support your steady growth.
II. Key Responsibilities
Operating AI coding agents on your assigned application scope (core focus)
Study designs and specifications and translate them into fully constrained prompts for the AI coding agent: screen structure, state model, navigation flow, offline behavior, and device-permission handling.
Maintain project context for the agent: the current architecture, the chosen state-management library, naming conventions, and the technical boundaries to respect.
Break features into appropriately sized steps for the agent to execute effectively.
2. Verifying the output (the most important part of the role)
Verify directly on real devices (both iOS and Android, across a range of screen sizes and OS versions within the supported scope), not just on emulators.
Carefully cover the cases AI tends to miss: connection loss mid-flow, the OS reclaiming app memory, returning from the background after a long time, denied permissions, Vietnamese diacritics rendering, and repeated taps sending duplicate requests.
Review agent-generated code for issues such as memory leaks, unnecessary rebuilds causing dropped frames, sensitive data stored in the wrong place, and improper screen lifecycle handling.
When the agent makes systematic mistakes, proactively update the project rule set rather than fixing each instance manually.
3. Owning the release lifecycle
Integrate APIs and handle data synchronization and offline state according to project requirements.
Write tests proportional to risk, prioritizing core business flows.
Package the application for the App Store, Google Play, and internal distribution channels; manage certificates, signing profiles, and release notes; and execute releases under the Technical Lead's approval.
Monitor post-release incident reports, resolve them, and produce concise root-cause analyses (RCA) for your area of responsibility.
4. Contributing back to our shared systems
Distill every effective screen template, rule, and prompt pattern into shared assets that strengthen the whole team's capability.
III. Requirements
Under 2 years of experiencein mobile development; or no professional experience yet but you've independently shipped at least one app to a store or to real users (with a link or installable build to discuss).
Working proficiency in Flutter and Dart:able to build stateful screens, handle navigation, call APIs, and manage errors independently. We also welcome candidates with a React Native or native background who have successfully self-taught and applied a new framework in real work.
Solid understanding of the mobile app lifecycle: when screens are created and destroyed, how state is lost, and why data disappears when returning from the background.
Deep understanding of at least one state-management model (Bloc, Riverpod, Provider, or equivalent) - we value depth over breadth.
An AI-native mindset in daily work: you've used AI coding agents or AI IDEs (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or equivalent) in real work. This is a baseline requirement for the role.
A verification mindset for AI output: you can share a specific instance where AI-generated code ran correctly on an emulator but failed on a real device, and how you caught it.
Data-security awareness: you understand and follow the rules on not feeding real client data into AI tools beyond the permitted scope.
Strong ability to read English technical documentation.
A learning mindset: you proactively raise questions when stuck and take ownership of every line of code you deliver.
IV. Nice to Have
A native Android (Kotlin/Java) or iOS (Swift) foundation at the level of reading code and handling platform bridges.
Experience setting up CI/CD pipelines for mobile (GitHub Actions, Codemagic, Fastlane).
Performance-optimization experience: memory leaks, dropped frames, startup time.
Experience with kiosks, kiosk mode, or peripheral hardware integration.
Experience integrating large language models or on-device AI features into an app.
Experience building your own prompt pipelines, skills, or AI workflows for your work.
Strong spoken English (some projects involve working directly with international clients).
Open-source contributions or public technical writing.
Benefits
- Competitive Salary Based On Qualifications And Experience.
Social insurance and statutory benefits in accordance with Vietnamese labor regulations.
Opportunity to work on digital transformation projects within the healthcare sector.
