Material Development Engineer

I. GENERAL FUNCTION
The Material Development Engineer is responsible for supporting the Product Development Team throughout the entire Material Design Process; including tracking and status reporting of key milestones and deliverables for the brand development team; act as liaison with materials and design teams to facilitate Materials process development and communicate issues as directed by Product Development Manager/Team.
Purpose of Position:
Support the Product Development Team with a wide range of tasks associated with product life cycle management including the development, implementation and sourcing of products within their categories of responsibility. This includes bringing unique and innovative product material to market in a timely and profitable manner.
• Responsible for tracking and updating status of Material Prototype and Confirmation of test sample deliveries. Update development status reports to insure timely delivery of all product material development.
• Managing, coordinating and maintenance of Material samples for all product lines and keeping the final recipe with confidentiality.
• Milestone chart and ensure target dates are adhered to R&D Manager.
• Present Material sample plates submissions to Design/Product Development for approvals (color, physical specifications and appearance)

• He develops materials such as plastics and metals depending on product specifications into composite.
• He or She can create new composites or develop new uses for materials, such as making
Systems out of ceramic, metal or other eco-friendly materials.
• Develop composite materials, or study the atomic structure of materials in order to discover new applications for their mechanical properties and conductivity.
• May familiar use power tools, lab equipment and computer technology to process materials.
• He includes analyzing materials and data, conducting tests, troubleshooting, monitoring performance, insuring quality control and creating documentation.
• Responsible for developing new methods of testing, training technicians and lab workers,
• Maintaining inventories and ordering supplies.
• He must also stay up-to-date on industry standards, government regulations and new developments in their field.
