Duong Dong Group operates across petroleum trading, banking and finance, logistics and warehousing, and international port infrastructure. Every liter of fuel that reaches the market passes through a chain of decisions: how much to allocate, at what price and discount, to which member company, and when it must arrive.
We are looking for an experienced trader who can both run a book and set the standard for the team around it. You will hold the most complex trading and dispatch cases yourself, guide a small team of specialists day to day, and be the desk's technical reference on pricing, allocation and execution.
📊 1. TRADING & DISTRIBUTION (YOUR OWN BOOK)🔹 Own the trading relationship with a defined cluster of member companies (CTTV): read their demand, negotiate discount and pricing conditions against MOPS/Platts movements, and shape order patterns.
🔹 Manage inventory as a trading position, balancing stock levels against price direction so member companies can sell without disruption and without carrying unnecessary price risk.
🔹 Propose monthly commercial and allocation plans, with clear assumptions and scenarios, for approval by the Department Manager.
🔹 Track sales volume and margin against system data and market benchmarks. Catch price, volume and cost discrepancies early and escalate them with a proposed fix.
🔹 Prepare the periodic sales, margin and reconciliation reports for your cluster, and review the reports prepared by junior team members.
🧭 2. TEAM LEAD RESPONSIBILITIES🔹 Be the day-to-day working lead of the trading and dispatch specialists: distribute daily tasks, set priorities, and make sure deadlines and handovers are met.
🔹 Run the desk's daily market and dispatch briefing, and prepare inputs for the weekly performance review.
🔹 Mentor and train junior specialists on price reading, negotiation, dispatch and reconciliation. Review their work and correct errors before they reach the customer or Accounting.
🔹 Act as first point of escalation for the team's trading and dispatch issues, and as backup on complex cases.
🔹 Maintain and improve working procedures, checklists and report templates so the desk runs consistently.
🔹 Provide factual input on team members' performance and capability to the Department Manager, who holds the formal decisions on hiring, appraisal, discipline and compensation.
🚚 3. TRADE EXECUTION & LOGISTICS CONTROL🔹 Convert approved transfer plans into dispatch orders and tracking records, and oversee that every dispatch in progress is monitored and issues are resolved as they surface.
🔹 Coordinate with carriers (trucks, vessels), terminals and warehouses to secure complete release and transport documentation.
🔹 Work with Accounting on internal transfer and delivery paperwork, and ensure a clean settlement file for every dispatch order.
🔹 Lead the monthly freight cost reconciliation with carriers and member companies, and review payment requests before submission.
🛡️ 5. RISK & CONTROL🔹 Operate strictly within the pricing, discount and inventory limits approved by Management, and escalate anything outside them before acting.
🔹 Flag market, credit and counterparty risk early, with a recommended response.
🔹 Keep contracts, price records, approvals and dispatch files complete and traceable for audit.
🎯 HOW YOUR PERFORMANCE WILL BE MEASURED
Own book: volume, gross margin and collection quality of your cluster
Trading quality: pricing accuracy against benchmark, and inventory cost and holding-risk control
Execution: on-time delivery, document completeness, and dispatch incident rate
Control: reconciliation accuracy, freight cost variance, and compliance with limits
Team contribution: quality and timeliness of junior team output, and development progress of the people you mentor
🌱 CAREER PATHThis is a senior specialist role with team-lead responsibility. From here, two tracks are open:
Expert track: Principal Trader / MOPS-Platts market strategy lead, with a wider book and greater pricing authority.
Management track: Trading & Supply Chain Manager, with formal people-management authority and accountability for the whole desk.
Both are earned on results, not tenure.
✅ YOU ARE A GOOD FIT IF YOU🔹 Hold a university degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Energy, Logistics or a related field.
🔹 Have at least 4-6 years of experience in oil and gas or commodity trading, distribution, supply or purchasing, including experience mentoring juniors or leading a small work group.
🔹 Understand fuel pricing mechanics (MOPS/Platts, premiums, discounts, inventory valuation) and can turn price movement into pricing and allocation decisions.
🔹 Know fuel logistics well: trucking, vessels, terminals, warehouse release and related documents.
🔹 Read margin and reconciliation reports with confidence, and communicate clearly with Accounting, Finance and Management.
🔹 Lead by expertise and example: precise, reliable, calm under pressure, and willing to teach.
🔹 Preferred: experience in the Vietnamese petroleum market, ERP/Excel/BI reporting skills, and English proficiency.
