ABOUT THIS POSITION:
Coherent Vietnam is seeking an Optics Manufacturing Engineer to support the transfer and ramp-up of advanced aspheric lens manufacturing from the United States to Vietnam.
This is a unique opportunity to work in one of the most advanced precision manufacturing environments in Vietnam, supporting optical components used in semiconductor equipment, industrial laser systems, and other high-tech applications.
Unlike traditional high-volume manufacturing, this environment focuses on:
- Low-volume, high-value products
- Complex manufacturing processes with extremely tight tolerances
- Nanometer-level precision manufacturing and metrology
- Advanced polishing, process control, and optical measurement technologies
- Strong focus on yield, quality, and continuous improvement
The successful candidate will play a key role in bringing advanced optics manufacturing capability into Vietnam and will have the opportunity to receive technical training in the United States.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support production transfer and manufacturing ramp-up of advanced aspheric lens products from the US to Vietnam.
- Develop, optimize, and sustain precision manufacturing processes to improve yield, quality, cycle time, and process capability.
- Troubleshoot complex manufacturing and process issues; perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Work closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and global Engineering teams to support stable manufacturing -operations.
- Support tooling, fixtures, process equipment, and metrology improvements for high-precision optics manufacturing.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, SOPs, and technical training materials in both English and Vietnamese.
- Train technicians and operators on manufacturing processes, inspection methods, and quality standards.
- Apply SPC, statistical analysis, DOE, and structured problem-solving methods to improve process stability and manufacturing performance.
-Support new technology implementation, process qualification, customer audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with quality systems, safety requirements, and operational procedures.
