Working across R&D, Marketing, Supply Chain, Quality, Purchasing, Manufacturing, and other functions, BHC develops and commercializes products that meet quality, safety, regulatory, and business requirements.
We are looking for an R&D Spec & Compliance professional to join our Research & Development team and take responsibility for product specifications, technical documentation and product compliance, ensuring that product, formula and labeling requirements meet applicable regulations and internal standards before commercialization and release.
Key Responsibilities
Product Specification & Technical Documentation
Develop, issue and manage Product Specifications, Raw Material Specifications and other product technical documents in compliance with applicable regulations.
Establish food safety and product quality standards in accordance with industry standards and food regulations to support product declaration/self-declaration activities.
Develop Technical Data Sheets (TDS) for commercial and purchasing agreements.
Ensure product specifications are accurate, consistent and aligned with product formulas and manufacturing processes.
Manage and update product technical data and relevant systems.
Maintain product documents, records and templates to ensure information is properly controlled and easily retrievable.
Product Compliance & Regulatory
Ensure product specifications and technical documents comply with applicable laws, regulations and audit requirements.
Review technical information used for product labeling and check labels against current regulations.
Monitor and update changes in food regulations, legal requirements, import/export requirements and relevant industry standards.
Review and update documents when regulations or product requirements change.
Review and manage obsolete documents to ensure only valid and current versions are in use.
Coordinate with QMS to align technical standards for raw materials and finished products with regulatory requirements before agreeing specifications with suppliers.
Review supporting technical and compliance documents from suppliers and relevant partners.
Cross-functional Collaboration & Product Development
Work closely with Marketing, QMS, Procurement and OEM to ensure product compliance throughout the product lifecycle.
Participate in new product development projects with relevant internal teams and external partners, including OEM, ODE and Distribution.
Participate in contract reviews with project teams where technical or product compliance requirements are involved.
Ensure product documentation and technical information are available to support commercialization and audit requirements.
Perform R&D administrative tasks and other responsibilities assigned by the R&D Manager.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Regulatory Affairs, Law or a related field.
3-5 years of experience in Regulatory Affairs, Product Compliance or a related field.
Experience in FMCG, food manufacturing or related industries.
Good knowledge of food regulations, product labeling requirements and technical compliance standards.
Understanding of food management systems and product compliance processes.
Experience with international markets and regulatory requirements for export products.
Knowledge of standards/certifications such as FSSC 22000, HACCP, Halal, ISO, BRC or relevant standards.
Experience in savoury, beverages, dairy or nutrition industries is an advantage.
Good technical and conversational English.
Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Able to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Willing to travel for business when required.
Proactive, honest, careful and detail-oriented, with strong teamwork and follow-through.
Independent thinker with good organizational and task management skills.
