About Us
Happy Lemon Games is the game studio of Lecten UG, based in Germany. We build mobile hypercasual and casual games and ship them with publishers around the world.
We are fully remote and deliberately small. Our designers, artists and developers work from Europe, Asia and Latin America, and we organise around output rather than hours at a desk. Short feedback loops, direct access to the people deciding, and no layers to push an idea through.
We prototype fast, test with real players, and kill what does not work. If you like seeing your decisions in a build within days instead of quarters, you will feel at home here.
The Opportunity
We're looking for a Game Designer (independent contractor model) who can define what the game is: what the player does, where things live on screen, how sessions flow, how difficulty ramps, and why the experience feels great. Hands-on Unity skills are a plus. Your superpower is shaping readable, juicy, mobile-first play from concept to soft launch and beyond.
What You'll Do
Define core loops and goals: articulate the player verbs, success and fail states, and short and long term motivation.
Own moment-to-moment feel on the design side: specify timing, feedback layers, and readability rules.
Design flows and onboarding (FTUE): map session structure, difficulty curves, level progression, and retention beats (D1/D7).
Write clean, brief specs and tuning sheets that the team can build from without a meeting.
Run playtests, read the results, and change the design accordingly.
What We're Looking For
Proven experience designing mobile hypercasual or casual gameplay, with launched titles or strong prototypes and level packs.
Sharp sense for clarity, pacing, and player feedback: anticipation, squash and stretch, coyote time, easing, at a directive and spec level.
Ability to build clean, brief specs and tuning sheets that speed up production.
Strength in level and obstacle design, difficulty ramping, and session structuring.
Comfortable with playtesting and iteration using both qualitative feedback and lightweight KPI reads.
Working English, enough to write a spec and discuss it.
Why Join Us
Remote first: work from anywhere, with flexible hours.
High impact: a small, focused team that ships fast.
Player first craft: we ship games that feel great and respect players' time.
Direct line to the people deciding, no layers between you and the call.
How to Apply
Click Apply and fill in the short intro form. It takes about three minutes. We read every submission and reply either way.
