Ruby on Rails Backend Developer

You will join Kyons - a dynamic early-stage EdTech Startup focuses on using AI to shape the learning path of individual learners based on their learning progress, characteristics and personal preferences. We were accelerated and supported under the ETHOS program by the World Bank and State University of New York (SUNY) - Korea.

Our team is diverse with currently 16 members working in 3 time zones, consisting of leading experts in education, veteran developers, designers and marketers.

Your responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Ruby code
• Conduct integration of user-facing elements developed by front-end developers with server side logic
• Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems
• Help maintain code quality, organization and automatization

• Experience with Ruby on Rails, along with other common libraries such as RSpec
• Good understanding of the syntax of Ruby and its nuances
• Understanding of object-oriented programming
• Basic understanding of front-end technologies, such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
• Familiarity with concepts of MVC, ORM, and RESTful
• Writing clean, readable Ruby code
• Ability to integrate multiple data sources and databases into one system
• Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
• Able to create database schemas that represent and support business processes
• Able to implement automated testing platforms and unit tests
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools Git, Bitbucket,...
• Familiarity with development aiding tools, continuous integration Capistrano
• Good command of English is a plus.
